Was at Rogers arena. Canucks fan tried to fight me in the 300’s by grabbing my jersey by the neck. Fellow CP poster slapped him in the face and he never bothered us again.

I hate that team.

I love that Rouselle is in a suit 10 minutes after the game. What a French guy!

Default Nucks 4 Flames 3 SO LOSS

One of those games where hockey reminds you that it can be a bitch of a game sometimes. I expect a motivated group to play Tampa

Rittich's ranks amongst goalies (minimum 5GP) his last 10 games prior to tonight:

- .900 save percentage (27th)
- 3.13 GAA (29th)
- -2.23 GSAA (29th)
- 31.34 Avg Goal Distance (46th)

5v5 numbers are still pretty good (11th-13th range) but all situations he's been very poor.

After tonight, Rittich is now down to a .898 save percentage over his last 11 games.

Not good enough.

Flames keep running into hot goaltenders while our goalies provide below average performance.

That being said, despite generating a lot of good looks on the PP, the Flames need to find some way to pot one on at least one of those opportunities.

Last year's shootouts:
@ NSH: Monahan/Tkachuk score, Versteeg doesn't.
vs NJ: Monahan/Tkachuk score, Versteeg doesn't.
@ TOR: Tkachuk scores, Monahan/Gaudreau don't.
@ MIN: Gaudreau scores, Monahan/Tkachuk/Bennett/Ferland don't.
@ SJ: Monahan/Backlund don't score.
vs WPG: Janko/Monahan don't score.
@ EDM: Tkachuk scores, Ferland/Monahan don't.

This year's shootouts:
vs BOS (China): Tkachuk scores, Czarnik/Janko/Ryan don't.
vs WSH: Monahan scores, Tkachuk/Neal/Gaudreau don't.
vs TB: Monahan scores, Tkachuk/Neal/Gaudreau/Lindholm/Hanifin/Janko don't.
@ VAN: Tkachuk/Monahan/Neal don't score.

So far, Monahan and Tkachuk (and our goalie saving everything) are about our only chances of winning a shootout.

On the plus side... Nothing to fear in a 1st round matchup with the Canucks. Flames absolutely dominated them outside of the crease.
Nothing to fear? We are 1 and 3 against them this year

It's time for the flames to stop messing about now with goalies. Bring in an Nhl quality starter, we are losing games because goalies and it will cost us in the playoffs

Why would all three Flames shooters go for the 5 hole. How about shooting for the top corner as Pettersson did on the first shot.

47 shots for the Flames tonight and they essentially had the Canucks hemmed in their zone for the majority of the 2nd and 3rd periods. Markstrom was outstanding.

A slump had to happen at some point, even if they've deserved better fates the last couple.

I hope they get it out of their systems now. A good final stretch and playoffs definitely matters more.

Two very winnable games. Love the effort.

Sure, easy to say we have lost some mojo when we aren’t scoring at will lol.

Rittich was fine.

I don’t understand the shootout selection at all. I could have submitted 100 lists and none of them would have included Neal.

Tough to judge these games. It's true we've maybe had some bad luck running into hot goalies in the last two games but the fact is their's outplayed ours.

4 games in a playoff series where the other goalie beats yours means you're eliminated, no matter how well the team plays.

Hope our guys play with the same kind of dominance, but more importantly, hoping Rittich regains his dominating form.

The lack of pp goals and Johnny and especially Monahan disappointing lately has me concerned

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

they're 1-1 in regulation. canucks fluked out 2 games that had no business going to ot and got the extra 50/50 points. their regulation victory was opening night, which the flames never win. canucks would get swept if they made the playoffs in a wildcard. more likely is them continuing to be a mediocre bubble team

Becuase Marksrom didn't hunch down far too early to try a poke check. Witb Petterson always keying on high shots regardless, Rittich made that one easy.

Sometimes my wife tells me things are fine. Things are never fine when people choose to use the word fine.
