Thanked for Top Gun reference! Snek feels the need for speed!

.500 record to make the playoffs. We fed the snake enough games above .500 in just over half the season. To miss the playoffs from here we would need to play at a bottom 5 level.

With the Snake fed for the playoffs is their a presidents trophy snake that could go on the board?

Now for this snake you could follow the most points ever for a team which is an absurd 131 pre-cap pre-loser point total by Detroit but that isn’t happening again. So if you look at the post lockout cap era you have the 2010 caps at 121 points. So I would use this mark for the presidents trophy snake. If a 75% chance of the presidents trophy excluding the lockout year you could put the snake at 117 though that isn’t quite in the spirit of the playoff snake.

The interesting thing about 117 points is we are slightly closer to that line then the 96 pt line.

The other interesting thing about 117 points is, that was what the Flames got in 1988-89.

If they get 117 points and win the cup, do you change your name to Jay Deterministic?

For this season, the best determination for that would probably just be adding Tampa to the chart.

I believe this is the playoff snek thread and not the presidents trophy snek thread.

Less suggestions, more snek.

Agreed - too much information just creates noise. The snake charts are clear and illustrative as they are. Let it be.

Another win for the red snake last night moves it to a season high 6.488 points above the black line. It remains 9 points above the orange snake and 6 points above the purple snake. This marks the 24th consecutive game above the black line, with a minimum of 5 more games guaranteed.

This is a special day in the terrarium. The red snake can finish the season with a .500 record over the remaining games and still finish with 96 points. For the number of years I've been a part of the snake, it's normally been a chase up to the black line. It's spent much more time south of the border, rather than on the promised land. This is very pleasing to see. A record of 19-19-0 (0.500 point percentage) in the remaining 38 games would give the red snake 96 points. It is currently on pace for 108 points.

Awesome, squiggs96.

When did you launch your first snake-thread? I believe it was some point in the middle of the 2014–15 season, no?

I started the snake idea (sick of reading OOT threads and getting annoyed) December 8th 2014. It's a little like watching season 1 of the Simpsons. Weird. But Squiggs96 quickly took over by December 30th. All hail Squiggs96 and his amazing snake threads from hereon after. The extra crispy was a particularly good addition.

The first snake and snake thread should be considered a historic artifact.

Wow. I had forgotten that.

Thanks, Bunk! This has been my favourite thread on CP for a long time.

*EDIT* Hahaha! I am just now reviewing that thread and see that you started the snake in 2014 right at the time the Flames went on their eight-game losing streak.

I definitely stole Bunk's idea, as I was curious to see what the Edmonton snake looked like compared to Calgary's. Now all the thanks are mine. I think I'll take over Gaskal's ATL next.

Special shoutout to drewtastic for the first mention of the line being a snake.
