I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but the Republic of China is not the same thing as the People's Republic of China.

China is listed as being not ratified. Therefore they are not legally bound.
Also, the constitution of China applies to Chinese citizens. Not foreign agents.
Ironic that you call me a dummy when you are completely uninformed on the issues yourself.
Also, wasn't it just 15 years ago that the United States unilaterally went to war with Iraq, leading to a conservative estimate of half a million Iraqi citizen deaths? This action was taken despite condemnation from the UN. I think people around the world are just sick and tired of the western world lecturing them on human rights issues when western countries have committed the majority and most brutal human rights violations in the last century.

I mean the great leap forward alone trumps anything the West had done by like a factor of five. But please, continue being an ignorant sheep.

Wow, this is quite the sock puppet show we've got going on in this thread.
Anonymous stranger is so completely wrong about free speech as a concept that it's laughable - GGG has actually narrowly defined the concept by restricting it to interference with expression by governments. To have someone say "that's still not narrow enough" tells you how comfortable they are with authoritarianism.

So does virtually every sporting governing body on earth.
The IOC caved to communist China in 1984.

Had an idea!

Well I did expect that someone in their ignorance would take a shot at the US for trampling all over people's free speech, but I certainly did not expect someone to come here defending China.
If the ChinaBots have invaded CP the world is doomed.

There's something uniquely pathetic about living in a free country whilst defending a backward authoritarian regime.

On the plus side, CP seems to be doing really well on the diversity metrics:
Jiri is a Mexican human
Photon is Chinese robot
Bingo is a troll from whatever region produces CDC paste.

This is not going so well for Activision-Blizzard.
Their Chinese Overwatch character Mei is being co-opted into becoming a a symbol for Hong Kong and the protesters, while there has been claims that Blizzard also basically disabled the ability to delete your account for a while yesterday because so many people were doing so.
In the case of the former, it's not the first time that's happened either. Zarya has become an icon of Russia's gay community, even though that particular character isn't gay inside the game's canon.

I thought the boycott would blow over. I'm really impressed gamers are showing solidarity and deleting their accounts (or attempting to) en masse.
I love when a corporation gets #### kicked for being stupid.
Now if only there was some way to unite and end the atrocities on the US southern border. What a stain on that country.

I'm quite curious how they're going to handle twitch chat for the next Hearthstone stream.

They'll probably just add the words "hong kong", "idiot chinabots" and "sheep under oppressive regime" to the chat censor list.

The logic here is that since the Iraq war was awful, we should just ignore all future human rights violations outside of the USA?
It is possible to have actual consistent morals and condemn all forms of imperialism, including actions by both China and the USA.
