Yeah Akindele isn't a huge loss and you can't blame the guy, he legitimately grew up in the states not like JDG2 or Whoregreaves or somebody.
It is kind of lame that Klinsmann pulled this crap though... apparently he had accepted the callup for Canada and when Klinsmann found out he called him at the 11th hour and invited him to the American camp. Kid should really be smarter than that, he's not in their camp on merit, they will totally Bunbury him, give him a single cap and then never use him again just so Canada doesn't get him.
But hard to care too much anyway... we could use another striker option though.

^^
He spends his summers with his grandparents in your neck of the woods. He still doesn't have his US citizenship after all these years which make it less cut and dry as you'd suppose.
Depth at all positions is obviously a key part of getting through competitions like the Hex. And I don't see target strikers exactly growing on trees up there.

Yes I would have liked to see us add him too but I guess I just don't have the same sense of betrayal as when a guy who has barely been to another country plays for them.. because they are pretending they are from the same place as their hypernationalist Dad or based on opportunism because the other country's team is better. That kind of crap is a major character stain. Too many of those taints in Canadian soccer history.
Tesho lived in the States from the time he was 8 until now, including college. While I don't debate that he has ties to Canada too, it's not hard for me to imagine that he is a proud American. Would have preferred him to play for us obviously but no hard feelings...
Edit... here is an update... looks like the States didn't call him and he is still considering where to play, we've heard that song before but it could be worse: http://soccerblog.dallasnews.com/201...nal-team.html/
Canada's U-20 side draws England's U-20 side 2-2 this afternoon. Goals by Michael Petrasso (of QPR / Notts County) and Jordan Hamilton (of TFC / Trofense).
Very promising...

Caps cut Alderson today... Probably a good thing for the cmnt, they were never really willing to give him the 1st team minutes necessary to develop. Betting he heads to a lower league or small nation in europe just to start getting games.
Canada's U-20 team has defeated Russia's U-21 team 2-1 this afternoon. All 3 goals were from the penalty spot, Hamilton and Bustos for Canada. I'll post highlights if I come across them.
A reminder that Canada vs Panama goes tonight! I'm watching the first half, walking over to the dome, then watching the 2nd half after. Should make for a good night!
And just another update on the U-20 team. They just defeated the US U-20's 1-0 in Spain. So, our U-20's beat the U-20's of the 23rd and 30th ranked teams in the world, and tied the 20th ranked team in the world.
True, U-20 success does not necessarily correlate to senior team success, but it's a start.
I'm now very excited for the U-20 World Cup Qualification tournament in January.

Yeah that U20 tournament should be fun, hopefully there is TV coverage. I am really looking forward to Hamilton and Larin playing together up front... that is the best youth strikeforce I've seen Canada have, and Petrasso is one of the best couple U20 players in CONCACAF.
Canada's group is very tough though, Mexico and Honduras are always good and their youngsters have typically already played senior mens soccer in their domestic leagues. Two of the other teams in their group, Cuba and El Salvador, both qualified for the last World Cup so they will need to be on their game.
That other group with Aruba, Jamaica, Guatemala and the Trinis is looking pretty good... let's ask Panama if they want to trade! At least if they play decent they should have a winnable game in the crossover match.
