I am pretty sure he is 18 years old (just turned 19, but drafted in the 2009 draft), is in the top pairing of defenceman on his team at least for this game, and is playing in an all mens league? (Instead of against mostly 16-19 year olds like one sees in the CHL at his age.)
He couldn't play in the AHL yet even if he wanted to, it would be like how Backlund came over to play in the WHL last season, except Erixon is actually wanted on his team where Backlund played his way off his Swedish mens team.... and is now playing big minutes for the Flames.
(Is that basically correct Kekkone?)
Oh, except Backlund is from the 2007 draft? (Nemisz is the 2008 draft)

I thought Erixon could play in the AHL? He wasn't drafted out of the CHL so there is no age restriction on him. Atleast I thought so. I think even Backlund could have played in Quad Cities last year if that's what the flames wanted him to do.

lol!
I just posted the rules in another thread and then get burned in this one.
I am no expert, but yeah, I think Erixon could go direct to the AHL because he never played in the CHL. Its is exceptionally rare though for that to happen and 99-times-out-of-100 I am sure the Flames would have Erixon in the CHL with the team that holds his right as an 18 year old and not the AHL.
So technically yes he could have, but practically no he would never.
Claeren.

Nemisz with 1 assist tonight in his first game back from injury.
Epic playoff game in Windsor tonight, lots of hate between these two teams, chirping at each other all night, Kassian with a good fight. Taylor Hall with 2 goals, Seguin was -3.
Windsor wins 5-1

Heat officially clinch a playoff spot in their first year in Abbotsford. Playoff gates will help to offset costs and increased awareness in the area as junior teams are eliminated from their own playoffs.

I don't have an update on Bjorklund but wonder if he will play in Abbotsford next year. Farjestads gave him a look this year but he spent most of the time with Boras. As long as he gets the ice time there is no need to rush him.

3 points for Bouma in a 9-6 barnburner against Portland. Nemisz gets another assist in Windsor's second win over Plymouth.

Bouma had 1 goal and 2 assists tonight.
He now has 3 goals and 9 assists, while being a +6 in 6 playoff games.

Another chance to watch Erixon: Link. Two periods left, Skellefteå leads 1-0. Series is tied 1-1, winner goes to finals.

I catched only second period and it was quite good for Erixon. On PP he had two great chances by sneaking into far post but failed to get a good shot away both times. On defensive side of game not much to complain this time, it was typical mistake-free period for him. Yes, it's typical, he doesn't usually make lot of mistakes so don't lose your hope yet Jeremy .
The game was tough 3-2 home loss for his team. They allowed a shorthanded goal on overtime.

I finally found stats sheet: Erixon had team leading 24:18 of ice time (second highest was 22:16), one shot on goal, a two minute penalty and was -2 so he was on ice for every goal against.

Wow, Bouma is tearing it up again in the playoffs. If I recall, Bouma had an excellent playoffs last year, a sort of offensive coming out party for the guy. It's looking as if he's stepping up again this playoffs. Looking like a clutch performer that has some good potential for the Flames down the road.

OHL players update:
Nemisz has played 3 games and has 2 assists. Just starting to get back to normal after recovering from a bad cut on his thigh. Windsor really starting to roll having little to no trouble with Plymouth.
Brodie has played 7 games and has 6 assists. Seems to be stepping up at the right time. Here is a clip from the last game highlights. Pretty impressive rush getting a shorthanded helper. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnbsVd2q10Y

Yeah the kid has had all sorts of shoulder problems so far - Playfair compared it to what Blair Betts went through early in his career.
I think the kid has some game and could be an NHLer but its tough when you lose those critical development years.
