Tough loss for FAA but he had the majority of points on his terms as shown by the winners vs UE stats.

On another note, as was already mentioned, Jan-Lennard Struff knocked out Zverev Jr. earlier today.
And to that I say...

yup as I said you gotta break their spirit. The more you miss the more excited they get. Serve some bombs and hit some winners and they'll fade away.
FAA is an offensive player that hasn't matured with all the tools yet. That will come as he gets stronger, then he can blow this type of defensive player away.
If Milos had been up 5-4 in the tiebreak with two serves, Nishioka would be crying even before the point's started.

Nope.
If you actually watched Nishikori's match you would have seen that he actually played a Frenchman AND he barely even scraped past his French opponent all the while making many UE left, right and centre.
If it wasn't for Mannarino becoming Chokerino and pulling defeat from the jaws of victory, Nishikori would be done at Indian Wells by now.

They're staying up late in Switzerland tonight...

Also, I think Milos was originally scheduled to play Struff today, but with the rain delay, that match has been pushed to Wednesday. That's a nice break for the big man.

Big match for Bianca today at Indian Wells, if she can defeat Wang, she'll crack the top 50 in the WTA rankings.

Rebecca is playing in an ITF event in Japan this week (seeded 4th) and won her opening round match yesterday. Great to see her back playing again and hope she can stay healthy.

The only way you lose to Mannarino is by beating yourself. Guy has no weapons at all.

Not feeling overly enthusiastic about Shapo's chances against Cilic today. Would love to see him come out and execute a clean match from start to finish, but it will be a tough ask against a guy like that.

I thought Shapo played very well against Steve Johnson and yes Cilic is a step or two up from Johnson. If Denis can get a good percentage of Marin's serves back in play, he has a good chance. That and Shapo has to serve well today.

Bianca takes the opening set 7-5 over Wang Qiang - Go Bianca Go!
Edit: Bianca continues to roll through Indian Wells as she takes set 2 by a 6-2 score. Fantastic stuff.

Kei Nishikori is currently embroiled in a battle with youngster Hubert Hurkacz of Poland. On serve in the 3rd set with Hurkacz up 3-2
Edit: Hurkacz serving for the match leading 5-3 in set 3
Edit 2: Hubert Hurkacz upsets Nishikori winning 4-6 6-4 6-3

Yeah it's not out of the question at all. I've been pretty down on him lately as he's been so routinely flat match after match for the better part of 10 months now, only beating players he's clearly better than.
That said, he's come out fighting today and is looking ready to make something happen. Great serving and returning early on.

What a first set from Denis! Easily the best he's played this season. The second serve could stand to improve next set, but otherwise a pretty flawless showing against some stout competition.
