Default German Tourist shot in the head near Morley while driving

https://globalnews.ca/news/4368034/v...orley-alberta/

Quote:
Police said a 60-year-old man visiting Canada from Germany was driving west on Highway 1A when he was shot, causing him to veer off the road and crash into a tree.

RCMP Sgt. Tom Kalis said it appears the suspect vehicle — believed to be a small black car driven by a man with longer brown hair — was passing the family’s truck when the shot was fired.

He said based on the damage to the driver’s side window of the truck, it’s believed a small-calibre bullet was shot from the gun, which caused a penetrating brain injury.
Quote:
As of 3:30 p.m., police said the most likely theory they’re investigating is that the shooting was part of a road rage incident.

“One of the theories that we’re examining at this time is that there may be a road rage incident involving… a small black car that was travelling in a similar direction and was passing this truck at the time of the impact and the gunshot,” Kalis said

Just ridiculous to kill someone over road rage. That said anyone carrying a gun in car in Canada is probably up to no good.

Wait so the driver was passing in the right lane, and got shot.
There must have been some back and forth for awhile.

One of my coworkers had a rear window shot out driving through that reserve probably about 7 or 8 years ago. When she reported it, the police told her that cars being shot at on 1A is a fairly common occurrence - usually it’s a BB gun but sometimes a 22.

No reports saying he is dead, but your point still stands.

The news bit I saw said that he was responsive, conscious, and answering questions on the way to the hospital. Hopefully he pulls through, and without any major enduring damage or pain.

The initial report did. It was quickly changed.

It has to have been with a .22 as the news was reporting him to be conscious with a bullet. IN. HIS. BRAIN.

Apparently he also had 3 family members in the vehicle with him. Could have very easily been 4 people dead. And for what? Because you have a bad temper on the road?

IMO anyone who acts out with road rage is a giant POS, and an even bigger POS to do something like this. We can only hope that the shooter shattered his hearing by discharging a gun in his vehicle and gets caught as soon as possible, named and shamed, and locked up for good.

Hopefully the victim can pull through. What a nightmare scenario to come to a foreign country with as good of a reputation as Canada and have you and your family go through something like this.

Not sure how your getting to this. The article said the car passed the truck and the driver was shot through the drivers window, which would indicate that the car was passing on the left .

Not sure how you get back and forth out of this.

Catch him and charge him with 4 counts of attempted murder.

Doesn't that mean the driver was passing on the right?
Or i must be confused.

I think you're confused.

The driver was the guy that was shot, in the SUV. He would have been to the right of the car that shot him but the article states that the car was passing the truck.

That would mean that the car would have pulled out to the left of the SUV, and passed him in the normal configuration for North America when he shot the driver of the SUV

Kalis said the man driving the black car may have had long, dark hair.
I have heard different things, but this is what was in the CBC article.

The initial version of the article said the shot went through the passenger window, it's been changed to say driver's window.

Well I can see how that would cause confusion, I didn't see the initial version of the article.

I find the road rage cause as unbelievable so it will be interesting to see how this evolves. To me much more likely is someone carelessly firing a gun in a field and people’s memory not quite being right in a traumatic event.
