that wouldn't be enough to sign Point alone... so shedding johnson makes sense, but for picks or maybe Ksylington being part of a package maybe?
Would the Lightning do Johnson for Kylington?

Saves the Lightning a time of cap space and gives them a good young defeceman.

Johnson would be a great fit with Tkachuk either as his centre or RW.

My only issue with Johnson is...size.

Great player and all that, but this team can hardly afford to get smaller. And he is tiny.

Not like the offense was a problem for the club last year either.

He is a RH shot though and the club needs a couple of them up front as well if Frolik is moved.

I mean yeah if Monahan or Tkachuk goes the other way. Florida has zero reasons to move him.

I’d do Monahan for Trocheck.

Why?

Trochek is a nice player but he is a bit older, produces a lot less offensively, is much smaller (durability),.....sure he is a bargain contract wise, but he just isnt as good a player.

Not a chance. Monahan > Trocheck

Trocheck has been ranked a top 20 center statistically in 2017 and 2018 :

https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/...three-seasons/
https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/...three-seasons/

while Monahan isn't on the list. This year Trocheck had a bad injury and never recovered.

But considering their contracts I'd say their value is very equal, certainly not a big difference one way or the other.

I canít help but think the Leafs will shop Nylander. He had a disappointing season after difficult contract negotiations and a big pay day. But he was solid at the WHC which might raise his value.

I wonder if we have the pieces. Bash the contract all you want but if we could get him with Brodie as the base to centre a new line 2 for us it would be pretty dirty.

Tkachuk-Nylander-Bennett
Nylander really isnt a C though and defensively he is sub par at best.

The more I think about it the more I could see (as much as I love Hamonic both the person and the player, one of the best men of the game) Hamonic dealt to Toronto for a bigger picture type move. He has history with Tavares, heís a natural right side righty, good value with a good chance to extend, keeps Hammer still close to home. Depending on what Tre is actually looking to do I could see the Flames pulling off a couple big trades this offseason that resemble the Lindholm/Hanifin trade.

Hereís a couple Iíve thought of and a corresponding roster just for fun!

To Toronto
Hamonic
Jankowski
1st

To Calgary
Kadri
Kapanen
2nd

To Minnesota
Neal
Bennett
Kylington

To Calgary
Zucker
Rask

Frolik for a 2nd and Stone for a 4th to teams needing depth/rich in picks

Gaudreau 6.75 - Monahan 6.375 - Lindholm 4.85
Tkachuk 7.5 - Kadri 4.5 - Kapanen 4.85
Zucker 5.5 - Backlund 5.35 - Rask 4
Mangiapane 1 - Ryan 3.125 - Hathaway 1.25

55.05 million

Giordano 6.75 - Brodie 4.65
Hanifin 4.95 - Andersson .756
Valimaki .894 - Yelesin .925
Fantenberg .750

19.675 million

Rittich 3.5
Smith 2.75

6.25 million

Am I the only one that wants to keep the 1st? In a cap world, you need players who can go and make entry-level salaries.

It's been the MO for the league for a few years now.

It does seem that every other year Trelving trades the 1st in a big move. This is a year the Flames should be picking in the 1st round since we didnt last year.

I think so too.

I'd also like Treliving to come out of the draft with more picks than what he went in with.

Toronto does have a glut at centre. I think Kadri could be had for the right price.

Won't comment on the post in the larger sense, but on this I think you're off by a fair bit.

Neither of those goalies earned salaries to that level this past year.

I'd like to see a Tkachuk-Kadri-Bennett line.
