They're truly the class of the No Good, for over a decade. How their fans and media can talk otherwise these days just goes to show how far into denial and fantasy they have slid in order to keep a positive spin on what has been a dumpster fire of epic proportions.
My Favourite stat that shows how awful they have been for so long:

All they have to do to have their THIRD best season (based on percentage of the league they finished with a better record than), SINCE the 1990-91 season, all they have to do is place 14th out of the 31 teams in a season.

They have finished better then 14th out of 31, only twice in the last nearly 30 years.

Yeah, I don't really see that as being much of a problem if you're playing for Edmonton...

#75 Evan Bouchard, 6. Had a few rough defensive moments in the first, allowing his man to sneak behind him for one chance, then getting walked by another. Later, he, Marody and Benson collectively lost both possession and position in their own zone to enable a down-low 2-on-1 that just missed. Lost his man again on a second period powerplay that resulted in a dangerous chance for a Calgary PKer. Later made a strong defensive stop of Luke Philp. For a man with supposedly “average” wheels I keep seeing rushes where he skates about 1% faster with the puck than his nearest opponent can without it, and he generally skates away from trouble rather than into it. Left one would-be checker in his exhaust with a quick turn up the boards and out. Scored Edmonton’s first goal when his point shot into traffic bounded into the cage off a defender. On the next, disjointed powerplay he made three consecutive slick defensive plays to put out possible fires, then fed Benson on a “play-action pass” late in the PP for a good look after first selling the shot from the point. There’s an element of deception to his game that will be a welcome element on Edmonton’s blue line whenever he makes the grade.
How can an analyst miss the fact that he was on the ice with prospects? He sure as hell better be faster than most of them, or he will look slow as mollases against NHLers.

Darnell Nurse drops a hype video on Twitter and immediately removes it. But since this is the Internet, people have kept a mirror of it

Hype video not unexpected, he can see the light at the end of the Edmonton sewer tunnel after this season when his contract is up. Rfa or not, my guess is he doesn't play there next season, unless the Oilers sign him to a ludicrous 8x10 or more.

When your hype video is showcasing the skyline of Hamilton, which falls just behind Edmonton and just ahead of Saskatoon, doesn't bode well for his current NHL home.

In related news, Hamilton's new Tourism Incentive Slogan is:

"Better than Edmonton! Its not much, but its something!"

Once you've experienced the bright lights of The Hammer, it's hard on a 'bro to go Edmonton.

Or do they still call it "E-Town?"

One of the best proto E=NG threads from the board's old days was about teh OyLaHz like Brad Shizzlebister, K-Low, Mac-T and "D-Vo" (Radek Dvorak).

Hamilton at least has an excuse for their dumpiness, being a part of the rust belt with an industrial heyday in the past.

What is Edmonton’s excuse? They are a modern city by comparison supported by oil, government, and education industries.

Edmonton should look a lot more like Calgary. Instead they have created a little taste of the Soviet Union on the North Saskatchewan.
