New Star Wars TV Series: The Manadalorian
https://www.theverge.com/2018/10/3/1...he-mandalorian
Set to be released in 2019. Star Wars is apparently planning a few live action Star Wars Series.
First will be the Mandalorian. A story about a lone gunslinger, set after the end of the original trilogy. (Not one of the Fetts)
I like Westerns and Star Wars so this combo seems like it has the potential to be pretty entertaining.

I like the idea of this and getting back to the idea of a kind of Western in Space. The Madolorian's are the kind of cool mysterious characters in Star Wars, because they wear armor, even though Bobba Fett and his dad went out like weiners.
As long as they keep Karen Traviss far away from this they should be able to keep it in prime time instead of after midnight.

Cool, I love sci-fi and hate cartoons so I'm super glad this is live action.

This is the kind of EU show I've always wanted. Give me the scummy underbelly of the Star Wars universe.

The fact that Disney is putting a cool $100million into this should really bode well for special effects. I really hope the writing can match. I’m am very much looking forward to this.

Sounds interesting. I'm generally not a fan of animated shows either, so I'm happy to see some live action stuff in the works.
The space western theme was done to perfection by Firefly and Serenity. This new SW show has some large boots to fill.

I'm getting the impression that they want this to be a Flagship program for their new streaming service.

They could do so much with the Mando's. The real struggle is that in the Legends EU they tried to make them noble and honorable. Then in TCW's they made them pacifists except for Death Watch.
In the Legends EU they always formed alliances with the Sith because they were a conqueror mercenary species. In KOTR they for the most part were completely ruthless bounty hunters who followed the pay check. What I don't really want is for them to follow serenity where the hero's had principles. I'd love to see a show where they are principled to their paycheck.

This should be pretty cool, I think the setting will be great. I am guessing this is the Mos Eisley/Jedha looking set pictures that have leaked already.

I liked the idea of the video game 1313 which took place in the deep underworld of Coruscant, they also showed it in TCW's.

i really like that it's live action and not a cartoon. don't get me wrong - i loved clone wars and rebels but it's just not the same as live action!

I agree. Initially I didn't like the animation for TCW/Rebels but then it grew on me, and I've really grown to appreciate it.. in some instances. But some times it looks bad, like for instance in a bigger room the detail is really lacking. When characters run.. it looks awkward. Lightsabers look awesome though and action scenes are usually really well done.
But all that aside, I would still prefer live action so I think this will draw in a ton of fans.

I really enjoyed some of the novels dealing with the Mando's. Only some. There was too many and all the good ideas got used up early. There was also some conflicts with canon stemming from some of these novels.

A police investigation has been launched into a theft on the set of the new “Star Wars” TV series, and Lucasfilm is scrambling to make sure no major secrets to the show have been compromised.
Sources close to production tell The Blast all hell broke loose after a bunch of expensive equipment went missing from the set of Jon Favreau‘s “The Mandalorian” while shooting at a studio in Manhattan Beach. We’re told the working theory is that the gear was stolen overnight while the set was dark.
We’re told the buzz among the crew is that the stolen equipment was from the camera department, and production is extremely worried a memory card containing sensitive information may have been jeopardized.

Lawrence Kasdan should have a permanent role as writer and/or writing consultant for every single Star Wars show or movie until he dies. He's the only one I trust.
Rian Johnson should be banned from even watching fantasy movies, nevermind directing them. Just to be safe, ban him from California.

Sounds like Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones) has been cast in the lead role.

That's great. If you've only watched him on GoT, you should check out Narcos. He's amazing in that.

Yea if so that makes me want to this even more.
Also, I guess this could be its own thread, but apparently Disney also announced a new series based around Kassian? A prequel of sorts leading into Rogue One? This is also very interesting to me. I loved how Rogue One exposed the grit of the Rebel Alliance.

Yeah, the Kassian show sounds like it could be interesting. Potentially a gritty live-action version of Rebels.

So likely only available on Disney's new streaming service. And if that is not available in Canada (or elsewhere) that could mean not available at all.
