I drove, but I could see that the north side Bow river path had been plowed at least once from Eau Claire to East Village area.

Not gonna lie, it was my toughest ride ever and had I know the dirty details, probably would have taken the bus of shame. I was kind of tricked because the pathway through the park was untouched pow. It meant gearing down and just motoring, but it was steady and predictable. So I figured I'd be fine the rest of the way. Had it sucked I would have turned back. I had hoped when i hit the street it would be compacted, but that was not the case. I struggled a bit, then ended up on sidewalks most of the rest of the way which was much easier.
What made it all worth it was busting down the bluff though. Light fluffy pow, sliding this way and that, having a blast. Going to work shouldn't be allowed to be that fun.
I will have to hoof it up on the way home though, I can't think of any route I could take that will be plowed. It will still be faster than the bus though. And I'm in no rush anyway.

I'm not sure why I didn't think of this, but just saw a comment on twitter about XC skiing in. I should have done that...

You're a superhero, fuzz. I've had a rough week, had two tough days at work to start and it's just too far to ride through the deep stuff with the cross bike.
We'll see how the plows do later today, I'd like to get back into the groove.

Not heroic...worst case it is only 6km and I could walk whatever I needed to. I'm fortunate to be a distance away that no stupid decision I make is going to have any bad consequences. I can just tough it out. Speaking of walking, my fastest time on that route is about 55 minutes. Today was 40. So, uh...slight win!

Not much easier than the trip in, still took 40 minutes, though I did have to scale Mt Snow Bluff to get to crescent heights. A lot more fun going down! The depressing part was getting home, realizing my lower body workout was done, but I'd be getting an upper body one shoveling snow. I think I've earned a beer today.

You’ve earned all the beers. Had to drive over to the Colonel Belcher by Edworthy park and back, saw at least 20 riders on the bow path. Warriors, all of you.

Much easier than yesterday! All the side streets are fairly compacted so I didn't have to struggle. Even with toe warmers my feet are a little cold. Anyone else ride today? Check in at ride your bike to work day? I skipped it this year, to cold to unbundle!

Just got to work after going to winter bike to work day. -28 when I left the house to go over there, pretty good turnout too. City has done a great job, all of Nose creek plowed, including Fox Hollow hill! Only the two pathways on the other side of the ped bridge over Deerfeeot haven't been plowed yet.

I know how you guys in Calgary feel. Today I saw that it was not raining in Vancouver, and that there was no rain in the forecast. 2 minutes into my commute it started raining. I was not prepared for this, as I only dressed for the 8 degree weather. When I got to my office, 5.5 minutes after it started raining, my clothes were mildly moist. Hopefully they dry before I leave at 5:00 pm. It really put a damper on my 2.5 km commute. Your thoughts and prayers are all welcome. Thank you in advance.

May your cycling shorts be soggy and cold, and your shoes a cistern of moist cool dankness.
