Goggles!

Those Bolle ones someone mentioned earlier from MEC have been great for me, but I did need to add a "hood scoop" to force air into the vents. It was sitting to tight to my helmet and my overheating head would cause them to fog a bit. Hood scoop fixed that.

Goggles man! Or just a simple pair of clear safety glasses.

Edit: Fuzz and I on the same page. I also got those Bolle goggles this year and get a little fogging on my upper right sometimes. Care to take a pic of this "hood scoop" you've constructed?

I don't have a camera here but I'll take one when I get home. It's just a piece of plastic I cut from a ski wax container gorilla taped to the top.

Yeah, I've been very happy with the Bolle goggles as well. haven't had any issues with fogging either.

And on the topic of riding a bike slowly...I need to learn to do this more.

I'm all good riding slowly when I'm out on my old 6 speed cruiser bike. However I'm not very upright on it yet, would like to raise up the handle bars and maybe switch them to more of a cruiser style to foster that stance.

Slow riding + proper cycle infrastructure = casual riding dressed normally. I quite like doing that.

Was at Revolution cycle in Edmonton today. Right now, almost all of their bikes are 20% off. Huge selection. Some good deals to be had.

https://revolutioncycle.com/product/all-bikes/

They're good guys and gals here. It's a huge store with a pool table and bar in the basement next to the fitting area. I was able to negotiate a little more off when I bought my wife's roubaix pro ui2 a couple of years ago. I sent another friend from Calgary there who got a Pivot Mach 429 trail from them and another friend bought a Rocky Blizzard frame from them which we built up at Christmas. The store is full, and they need to sell to make room for the 2018's.
You can buy online and they will ship if you can't get up there. No idea the cost to ship.

Lots of good prices in there. Those people waffling around the $2k mark for a bike will be able to get good one for under.

Any winter boot suggestions for fat biking?
Have narrowed down some options, but just wondering personal experiences.
Thanks!
(I ride flats)

Also need to pick up a pair of goggles! Timely suggestions!

Yeah same, when it's cold I have a pair of LL Bean boots that I wear with wool socks. If it's -10 or so then I wear a pair of five tens that I love for flats with wool socks.

I went for a spin this morning at around 9.30,my plan was to ride out to heritage pointe; however, the wind was at my back on the way out, so I cut my ride short, so as to not have as long of a ride into that breeze.....loggged around 20k.

I have flats as well, and I run a pair of north face insulated hiking boots. Lately, I find my toes get a little cold, but I think that is because I am trying to justify a pair of biking boots. I was at bik bros today in cochrane, and tried on a pair of Louis gaurneau boots, they felt pretty warm, it they were $324 . Had they been $200 ish, I may have bought them....winter biking boots are crazy expensive

Tomorrow morning could be a tricky one with the cold and fresh snow. Hopefully not to much more falls or it is going to be a really slow roll in.

i'm not convinced I will ride tomorrow. I don't expect the paths to be cleared and I'm thinking that it will probably be another 60 minute hike a bike fest to get to work which I would prefer to avoid.

It will be a game time decision for me, but who am I kidding, I'm sure future Fuzz is going to at least try.

My situation tomorrow finds me unable to bike even if it was good. I would not expect Nose Creek or Fox Hollow hill plowed by the morning anyway.

last night would have been fun to go and do some fatbiking, but it was also a good night to sit in front of the tv and eat some pizza as well

A couple on twitter this morning:

Kev Shlaw: #YYCBike Commute Report: Elbow River path from Mission to Stanley Park is not yet cleared of snow, so we took the roads instead. Studded tires highly recommended. Take it easy out there, but do take it.

Bike Calgary:
Cycle tracks and Bow River Downtown pathways have had a pass-through, but still a tough go on 5th as of 6:15am, 7th to pavement. North bank in better shape than south. 10th St NW snow curb-curb. Transitions terrible, prepare to lift bike over.
