There would still be some manoeuvres to be done, but Meier looks to be settling in as a ppg winger, so that’s not a bad cap hit going forward…..

I was okay with the Flames paying $20M for Gaudreau and Tkachuk but not so much for Huberdeau and Meier especially because our 23 1st would need to be in the deal.
I think we are bargain bin hunting this year.

Seravalli says the Flames have had trade discussions, but he is unsure if it it Tarasenko or Barbashev:

That's some solid reporting by Frank.
LeBrun has the most accurate information on the Flames when he does share it.

Lol. Frank can't put his finger on who the player was the Blues and Flames discussed. GM's discuss trades all the time Frank. Great stuff. Maggie the monkey could do better.

He's a loser with garbage rumours if you can even call it that.
He lost all respect with his temper tantrum when the pandemic started writing letters demanding he be allowed in the dressing room when they changed the press conference to a social distanced once outside the room.

What's the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. That's what the flames org likes to do.Moves like these roll players end up not making much of a difference. Either bring in someone who can make a difference or don't bring anyone in. Look at all the picks we lost last year and guys like carpenter and jarnkrok did not help at all.

They better not move that pick

Mangiapane should still have value too. If the Sharks are already near the bottom of the league and they trade Meier and Karlsson, how does Mangipane ruin their rebuild plans? Is the 2024 draft worth a complete tank job too? Probably not compared to this draft.
|
The kind of contracts SJ will take back will be ones that are expiring and they can flip at the deadline with salary retained. Mangi doesn’t fit their rebuild window and isn’t easy to flip at the deadline.
The ideal player for SJ to go for is one who recently signed a second contract, to keep above the salary floor while not investing in an older asset who will be in decline during the Sharks’ window to win.
This is not to say that Manji doesn’t have value, it’s just that he has no value to SJ.

Flames shouldn't be buyers for rentals.

That's not the definition of insanity.

I agree though we should not be trading picks any picks.
Time to sit this one out this team has shown they don't deserve a move.

This exactly
No rental pieces please unless it's someone that can conceivably move the needle
Running with Pelletier on line 2 and maybe scooping up a depth D for insurance is all I'd be looking at

Gross. Not even a guarantee. And if they do its likely in a lower seed. How far do they even expect to go with the goaltending they're getting
They'd better be drafting a player with that 1st

Rather go for Dadonov than Tank, Barbashev or ROR.
