Yah they should have thought the feelings of the other team with 3 minutes left.

I don’t have a problem with the EBUG. It’s a blowout in January. Kind of cool for him.

Is the EBUG eligible to play when the regular goalie is available?
Campbell wasn't injured, and in the post game interview the EBUG even said he was told he'd be going in around the 2 minute mark.
I mean, I think it's cool that he got the opportunity, but it'd be glorious if the Oilers got smacked with a fine or something for playing an ineligible player.

It simply seams like so many because they have such a lethal PP.

Less than .33 PP per game than the Flames.
That's something I didn't know. And you're right it's actually not much more.

I thought the 'Hawks lost heart when the goal that, IMO, clearly was played with a high stick, was allowed. Add that to some really soft calls against, when the game was still close, and my guys just couldn't overcome.

So you are basically describing playing the Oilers. Refs give them a goal to start it off and are loose with the calls until the game is out of reach after a few PP’s.

The Hurricanes did something similar a few seasons ago when Bill Peters was the coach in Carolina. I also recall the Bhawks doing this, but, it was necessary to do so.

I think it’s cool for the kid to go in net with a couple min left , good PR move for the oilers if nothing else. I have no issue with it. If the flames did that we’d think it was a nice move. Though I hear the media is broadcasting it was mcpowerplay’s idea to put the kid in. Sure it was….. just another marketing PR attempt to try and shove Mcdavid down our throats. Gandhi who? Did you hear Mcdavid made the oilers put in their EBUG? What a great human being!

Are you kidding? Is that the spin?
Well crap, that’s too bad. I thought it was a nice move, but, of course now, if this is true, the attention has to be on McDavid.
If this is true, I’d bet he couldn’t handle the kid getting attention and floated the rumour about it being his idea himself.

It’s because the league and media are trying to sway people to think that McDavid actually has more personality than a baked potato…… which he does not. Complete embarrassment, being the Oilers it checks out.

I don't believe it was McDavid's idea, but I fully believe Woodcroft asked McDavid if he thought it was OK. Coach likely has to run everything through his star lol

I watch hockey and I follow the Flames closely, but I swear this past season I've ecountered more terms and acronyms than ever before that everyone else seems to just use and reposed to like they're common knowledge.

Royal Road, EBUG. I mean I got what it meant once I got to a post describing what was happening. But I read "Putting in the EBUG seems like showing up the opponent" and had no idea what that meant. This thread was the first time I've ever read that acronym and I've read plenty of discussion and news on emergency backups over the years.

It was a thing when Ayres had that game for the Hurricanes and showed up the Leafs a few years ago.

He got a 10 for whatever he said… so it was bad enough that even the refs had to add something.

Thankfully it sounds like it wasn't a comment about Stetcher's dad as some lip readers thought. But it was obviously still something pretty bad. Not sure we'll ever really know exactly what was said.
