I predict 8-2 Detroit. In powerplays that is. Final score 4-2 Calgary. 2 shorties for the Flames.

From what I have heard is that the team plays better in front of Rittich because he has better rebound control and it leads to a more confident team in front of him.

From the little I've seen of the two, I've also liked the look of Rittich's game more, but Gillies is one of those giant yet agile goalies like Ben Bishop so perhaps the organization is higher on his potential just based on his base attributes. This kind of reminds me of a Halak vs. Price situation - if only we could be so lucky to end up with a similar outcome

Between the two of Rittich and Gillies they have played a total of one NHL game. I don't think this is amounts to "getting zero opportunity," and even though his numbers on the season as a whole are better, I don't believe there is much difference at this point between Rittich and Gillies. As someone else posted, both have been equally good in each of their last three or four games.
I fully expect that Rittich will get a call-up at some point this season.

Usually go to games in Detroit but not this one. I have a bigger dilemma, my teenage son who is a fair weather Flames fan wants me to watch the game with him tonight. The Flames are 0-14 when we watch the game together. Coincidence or do I make an excuse?

I think you two should start watching Oilers games together.

I remember the same stuff was discussed around Joni Ortio.
Goalies are really...really hard to predict....
It would be a mistake in my view to only look at AHL stats.

Game entirely depends on Lack. Not expecting much, so hopefully he's able to surpass meager expectations

Tonight’s game is making me nervous.
Detroit has been full marks for effort all season. Even after the loss in Calgary the red wings sneaky skill and quickness was obvious.
Whats got me worried is the potential distraction around “goaltending issues" if Lack happens to have a rough outing against a very under rated team. It’s been so nice all year not debating goaltending issues like the past 4 seasons.
I’d just hate to have that spoiled with threads about waiting for niemi to hit wavers again..
