Default Website for comparing employers and salaries

I just came across this web site: http://www.glassdoor.com/

It is pretty interesting. You can search salary information and reviews of companies that have been entered by anonymous employees.

The part I found the most interesting is reading through the employer reviews. Many of the companies I am familiar with had reviews that were not too far off from what I have heard. Some of the reviews are a little jaded, but you can pick out the useful information in those as well.

The sample size for Calgary is a little smaller than I would like. They have 152 reviews for 94 companies in Calgary. It would be better if there were more, since most large companies only have one or two if any at all.

Note: you have to enter information in order to see all the other information. I am not usually a fan of websites that force you to register, but I think it makes sense in this case. Without it, I don't think that they would have enough data to be worth visiting.

Am I really the only one that finds the information on this web site interesting?

I didn't even see this posted.
And based on those numbers, my assumption that I'm underpaid is accurate.

i.e.: any environment that has union workers involved.

I guess that I shouldn't post something like this at midnight on a weekend.

I didn't spend too much time on the salaries, since I am unemployed and planning on doing contract work. However, I think the reviews are interesting, and it may help me determine which companies to target.

Must be in a boring position. Doesn't speak for all employees.

Also, I found an "Evangelist" with Microsoft. Makes over $115k!!!

That doesn't sound crazy to me. Those positions are typically filled by people who have a load of years under them and loads of experience. Those types of people also earn that money as they tend to travel a lot...and from what I know of MS, this role will likely travel all over Western Canada.
