I used to work on 11th & 11thSW, and just after lunch every day a guy we called Stompin Tom would walk down 11th Ave. Cowboy hat, blue jeans, old worn boots and fringes suede jacket. I miss those days.

Yeah, I loved that place growing up. We had old Mother's Pizza glasses in my house (started narrow and flared up at the top) until well into my 20s. Tiffany lamps everywhere, suckers on your way out, big glass of chocolate milk...that place was the best.

for whatever reason, I thought about the old burger place on 17th and about 32nd SW. it was called Joeys and the sign was basically Archie from the old Archie comics. it was a fine burger, not sure what is there now?

We did too, that's cuz we got to take them after having floats.
I can't recall if it was a normal business practice for Mother's or if it was a promo, but we had them as well.

I think it was actually called Robin's.
It was sold and re-branded as Giant Burger
Then it became Olive Chicken
Now I think it is a gas station.

The weird thing about Mothers is that there is still one up in Country Hills
https://www.facebook.com/pages/categ...-288646066930/
They use the old logo but I'm sure the food is not the same
At the same time a businessman in Ontario purchased all the old trademarks and had started opening up new Mothers in Ontario. I think he got up to about half a dozen but since has closed all but one or two. He was the same guy that brought back the Pop Shoppe brand.
What I can't figure out is what the heck this weird location in Calgary is and how they are still allowed to use the trademarks considering they are all owned by this other guy.
Has anyone tried the pizza from them?

I haven't had it for a few years. Pizza, and Panzerottis tasted the same as they did back in the day. It has been open for years. First location was in Beddington, and then moved to current location

There is also a Vietnamese Banh Mi place located within that same strip mall as Mother's Pizza and I have no idea how these two businesses survive because I rarely see any cars out front. Also in that same strip mall is a shoe repair and alterations shop. It is run by the same Korean couple that ran the alterations shop in Deerfoot Mall for many years. I stopped in there once to get a pair of pants hemmed and recognized them. I was the only customer in the shop at the time and the parking lot was empty but they had a table full of clothes so they must have customers.

It had a number of names over the years. I've lived blocks from it for 20 years and was never in the place.
Edit: It's a coop gas bar. They razzed the original building and put the new one up.
It's at 28th street.

I still have one of those glasses, the dishwasher has faded it but the design is still there.

Anyone remember Willy's burgers? I fondly remember eating at the one on 32nd Ave NE. Those waffle fries were the best!!!

Not anymore. The Keg was torn down about a year ago and they are building a Canadian Brewhouse on the site.

I'd trade a lot for just one more Willy's mushroom swiss burger and their fries. Dang.
