Yup, no boos necessary. He wasn't a good fit but it's not like he threw a temper tantrum and trash talked Calgary on the way out, despite crap being flung his way anyway.

Glad the trade happened but hold no ill will.

Absolutely no reason whatsoever to boo him. Good guy who was a good citizen while here. Never trashed the city, or the team, or any other players when he got traded. What is there for fans to be disgruntled about? How is this even up for discussion?

He’ll get more boos in Carolina.

Boos should be reserved for players that showed disrespect or spurned the city/franchise/fans. Or guys who severely disappointed.

Cheers for those who were revered or did meaningful things for the franchise: Iggy for example. Ferland should also get a good cheering because of his personal story and his amazing work in playoffs vs Canucks.

Guys like Hamilton deserve no response, good or bad. Fans should be apathetic to his return.

If anyone sitting next to you at the game started to boo, you slap him/her upside their heads. There is absolutely no reason to boo Dougie whatsoever!

No point in booing. I didn't like that he went AWOL and avoided the closing interviews at the end of the season, but he wasn't a bad guy. Booing him gives his tenure with the Flames more credit than it deserves. Other than the trade with Carolina, he was pretty inconsequential.

I have always felt that the only players that should get any boos are players that have asked for trades, or have been traded without asking for one but have made disparaging comments about the Flames.

Hamilton has not done anything to warrant boos. On the contrary, I actually hope he has a warm ovation. Are the Flames planning on showing anything up on the scoreboard during a TV timeout? I hope they do it for him and Ferland. That's what classy organizations do.

Was Phaneuf boo’d when he can back? I think this is similar
You're not being serious are you? Phaneuf has been booed loudly in every game he's played in the Dome since the trade ten years ago.

I was far from a Hamilton fan but the guy should not be booed. He played well for the Flames while he was a Flame, and did do some great things in the community. Let's face if every guy who didn't fit got a Hamilton like return the Flames would be 10 points up on Tampa right now.

Didn’t everyone? I mean, he comes in with the Oilers. It’s tough to isolate the GG booing from the Oil booing. I am sure that he is getting some.

Honestly, I hope if some fans are dumb enough to boo someone who quite literally spent his free time visiting sick children in a hospital, the saddledome camera shifts to their stupid face and the entire arena boos them and publicly shames them. We're not oiler or leaf fans. Hamilton never caused a ruckus. The media are the ones who started all this talk.

Booing him only serves to reinforce that players shouldn't sign on Canadian teams.

Hopefully there is no booing of Hamilton. He always seemed like a great player and a great person but just wasn't a great fit with the team.

Why did we boo Phaneuf? The rumours around why he was traded? The punchable face?

Dougie Hamilton has done nothing to deserve getting booed by Flames fans. He was a real good player for us and without his value in the trade for Lindholm and Hanifin we would not be where we are right now. If anything, both he and Ferland should get some cheers from the crowd. I never thought bad of Dougie during his time here, and even if everything that surfaced after the trade is true it did not affect his play or loyalty to the team. Also I thought him showing up randomly in the background of post game interviews were great fun to watch.
