You can't misplace a comma if you don't place a comma. Well played, sir.

I really hope Calgary fans don’t boo him. He wasn’t a fit here but his play while he was here with his awesome advanced stats led to the team we have now. We stole him from Boston, he held is value with his play and we cashed in with players that were a better fit.

Dougie is a big part of this years Flames success

I found Dougie willing to dress up at the Children’s Hospital as Princess Leia and his photo / interview bombs were of his character.

I know all other guys are great too!

Loved Gaudreau’s dancing celebration down the hall cool last night. Great to see team have fun.

Must admit I prefer 28 & 55 here in Calgary for the team.

I don't see why there should be any fan angst towards a guy who did an enormous amount in the community and lead the NHL in goals for a defenceman.

Please CGY fans, do not boo him. There is literally no reason to. Would be classless.

There's literally more reason to cheer for Dougie every time he touches the puck (Making the Hanafin/Lindholm trade happen) than to boo him every time he touches the puck (potentially not fitting in with our locker room?).

He left amid stories that he wasn’t a good fit in the room. It was stated that he was angry about the treatment that Freddie received. He was said to have skipped his exit meeting to have lunch in Phoenix with his brother. It doesn’t matter if any of it’s true. He will hear the boos.

I hope he won’t be and don’t think he will. I think Calgary fans in general are smarter than that and realize he didn’t ask out.

The only reason I could think of to boo him would be the Freddie situation and he never brought it up, just the media.

Was Phaneuf boo’d when he can back? I think this is similar

I don't think he'll be boo'd. There aren't that many stupid idiot jerks in Calgary.

If fans boo the guy who the organization recognized (along with Monahan) in 2017 for community engagement then those fans should stay home.

i would not boo Hamilton... unlike a guy like baertschi, he never did a driveby following the trade...in fact, he's been nothing but complimentary on his time here...

Quote:
“A lot of good memories. Just a lot of good feelings, when you think about it,” Hamilton said, reminiscing about his three winters in Calgary. “Lived my childhood dream of playing with my brother (Freddie) in the NHL. Played with a lot of great players. Made a lot of good friendships, in the dressing room and outside the dressing room with just regular people in the city and the hospitals and stuff like that.
i hope they give Ferland and him an nice cheer

FYI Never met Dougie. But decades ago was one of the older kids in the childrens’ hospital when flames came by in early 80’s.

I find it good natured in his reply to the Sun notwithstanding whatever the situation was with him and his brother.

Flames are much better with 28 & 55 than Dougie, Freddie, Ferland (good memories of him) and Fox

From the article

Quote:

Dougie Hamilton would just as soon keep his community work a secret.

Like the rest of his Calgary Flames teammates, Hamilton is not looking for accolades when he visits the children’s hospital, surprises wide-eyed youngsters at their minor-hockey practices or assists with charity endeavours.

“It’s nice to get the recognition, but I’d rather not,” a humble Hamilton said Tuesday after accepting the J.R. McCaig Award, named for the late, longtime member of the Flames’ ownership group and presented to a skating staffer who shares his ‘enduring virtues of respect, courtesy and compassion for all individuals he encountered both in his professional and everyday life.’

“I don’t do any of that stuff to get recognized,” added the 23-year-old defenceman. “It’s to have fun and make an impact and help the kids have fun.

“I enjoy it. I like to try to make kids smile. And once you do that, it really makes you want to do it even more. It’s just a lot of fun for me and, I guess, for them. I’m just trying to help out and make an impact away from the rink. I think, with our platform it’s easy to want to do that stuff.”
If anyone boos they should be escorted out of the rink.
