I think a 3 week rest would be great for Smith! ....

Maybe this will be a reverse of last year and Smith plays better after his injury?

Remember what he was like after coming back from injury last year?...

(well, no different than this year)

I have the feeling that Smith isn't injured. I think it may be psychological, his confidence probably took a massive blow after goal #4 and the subsequent "Bronx cheer"... Obviously, this is 100% speculation.

And you think the team is in on the lie?

I think that there is an injury. He just didn't look the same after a collision in the first. Took him forever to get his stick.

Players need to be evaluated by medical staff before they can be placed on the IR (which we'd likely need to do to make roster space for another goalie).

Just looking at that last goal his technique looked so off it does make sense there would be an injury. He has let in some stinkers for sure this year but that one just looked like a guy making an odd movement, perhaps because his regular motion caused pain.

That definitely didnt look like the regular whiff

This has been stated more then once and I think its outright silly.

Good luck putting a player on the injured list or doing a call up in a cap era because of it a injured ego. That's not how it works.

I dont know...that enormous hole where his chest should be that pucks seem to keep flying through could be considered a fairly serious injury...

Probably should've thought that through a bit more before posting it. Sorry for my silly infraction. In any case, he probably needs a few games away from the ice after that performance.

Who could the call up be? Haven't Gillis and Parsons not looked too good so far? Maybe Schneider is the one to get called up.

If it's not long term or serious, yet significant enough to think about a callup, I have a feeling it's illness. Calgary has been kind of under the weather lately. Like 2-3 people from my team at work got hit this week with cold/flu symptoms.

Probably just looking at it as a day-to-day.

Maybe it's the new goalie gear. He's grimaced every now and then

I really, really hope it's a minor tweak and not the flu. The flu could easily mean the team gets hit like 4 to 5 teams a year do. It usually equals a nice week or two of poor play and a pile of losses.

Also, he never came back to the bench. I am not Smith's best fan but I also don't believe he would pout and not return to the bench. He has been classy all through the stretch where he was stinking it up.

Most likely Gillies

Parsons has been injured for a long time. Last played Oct 21.

Schneider played in the ECHL last night for his first game since Dec 1 and got lit up.
