Not a chance in heck I pick up Lundqvist with that contract. $8.5 a year, and if our RFA's like Bennett come on you're trading them because a 37/38 year old tender is eating up your cap space. Our "window" is open, and we need to maintain some kind of flexibility to keep core players around.
Rangers would have to take Smith and eat half his salary before I even entertain it.
Hard pass. That salary causes way too many problems and his age is too much of a risk.

I've heard from Rangers fans that Lundqvist would rather retire than move.

It's gonna be Rittich. Just a hunch. Maybe because he's the perfect amount of whacky that seems to translate into good goaltending somehow.

What is really needed is Bobrovsky to just sign an extension with Columbus and then I think Kekalainen would be more willing to part with Korpisalo. They have Elvis Merlikins who has done all he can do in the Swiss A League and was phenomenal for team Latvia at the WC’s last spring. He’s ready for a backup role. Also given that Korpisalo, despite being a blue chip prospect, has good (but not great) NHL numbers the cost to acquire shouldn’t be astronomical.

I wonder how Rittich and Keith Kinkaid could be as a tandem.

I mean if Neal is a guy who thinks the Flames can win a cup, and came here to Calgary because they have a strong team with a potentally deep playoffs run, then why wouldn't Lundquivst want the same thing.
I'm willing to bet he'd rather have a cup in Calgary than retire on the Rangers lottery squad.

There will be quite a few options available. We could ultimately be facing a cap crunch so if it was me, I’d consider just picking up a 1B goaltender for Rittich as this guy is proving to be a legitimate NHL goaltender with 1A upside. If Davey keeps playing like this, I can see a Mike Smith’s role with this team diminishing.

If he is, the Flames should think about playing him more.

On the topic of goalies, looking forward to more Rittich
The celebration last time he played as Johnny broke up ice, the salt bae tonight, the story about the fan giving him the finger and him smiling and waving - how can you not like this guy?

If David Rittich were on another team, we'd all be wondering what it would take to get him here to try him out as a 1B for a while. Sure, he had a bad stretch last year, but I think he'll learn from it and hopefully avoid a similar slump again.

He literally said he would rather stay on that Rangers lottery squad. He isn't going anywhere.

He was great as a backup for most of the year, really quite good. He stumbled as a starter but he was also a rookie. It’s entirely reasonable to expect him to improve this year.

Would the Devils trade Kinkaid with Schneider's status as questionable as it is? Eddie Lack isn't exactly an ideal fallback option for New Jersey.

Devs are going to pay Schneider to wear a baseball hat for the foreseeable future.
