A lot has been made of Tkachuk learning the finer points of the game from his dad, and how to push the other team's buttons without crossing the line. I wonder if we're seeing a bit of the same with Rasmus, who's no shrinking violet himself (his dad also played in the NHL and professionally in Europe).

He does have a bit of agitator in him for sure.
I recall one play where Lucic came in and gave him a shot, and Andersson just gave it right back to him.

He's a baby Nik Kronwall. Love it.
And come expansion draft time two years down the road, you gotta protect the kids over Gio or Hammer or Brodie IMO.

We have some salty Swedes. Backlund too I think is vicious towards our closest rivals. Just bleeds flames.
This is one of my all time favourites.

I could believe it. He is the current version of 'grit'. Not scrapping and laying huge hits but just being a dick throughout the game.

If Backlund plays out the remainder of his contract here he will play over 1000 games for the Flames. Which, depending on how many Gio will play, is good for second or third all time.

We know Rasmus is a chirper. Would not be surprised at all if it is true.

While it’s taken some time to get our third pair up and playing regularly in the NHL, I can’t help but speculate what their careers would look like if they were drafted by a franchise that didn’t take the time needed to develop.
Obviously, some players can step in at 18, but it’s rare to see it in defensemen.
I felt a little impatient with these two over the last few years, often forgetting their age.
So happy to see that we have a system as an organization, and the result is we have a few players graduating now from it.

Fair observation, but that guy is lacking Kessel’s telltale signs of ketchup and mustard stains on his beard and hot dog crumbs on his jersey.

Andersson has been an amazing defenseman for us.
I don't see him as a top pairing defender, but I really do see him as a solid 2nd pairing defenseman for a long time.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but he's been the key at some of the comeback victories because of either pinching at the right time to keep it in the opposing team's zone, or knows when to throw the puck at the net when there's traffic.
He has great IQ, hope that translates over in the playoffs.

Lifetime Suspension

I think any 21 y/o defender who's playing solid 3rd pairing minutes in the NHL and had a dominant season in the AHL has a decent shot at being a 1st pairing caliber player.
