I am no expert on the Australian health care system, but that is the model that I've heard most often compared to the plans of some of the non-M4A-peddling candidates like Pete, Biden and Yang.

Geez. Get rid of the caucus format already. So unorganized and so open to issues, both accidental and deliberate. For example, what prevents other campaigns from inserting dishonest members to act as another campaign's precinct captain? I get that this is the responsibility of the campaign, but vetting out these people properly shouldn't even be a requirement. Stick to voting through ballots.

That kind of thing actually does happen quite a bit. Not necessarily fake precinct captains, but numerous reports on caucus night of Bernie supporters hanging out in other candidates' groups, trying to get them to shift over to Bernie in the even that they weren't going to be viable after the first ballot. Seems like underhanded stuff, although actually not against the rules, so I'm sure they would argue that it's just good strategy to deploy your caucus-goers in that fashion.

With the likes of Ginsburg having one foot in the grave, the GOP can nominate their right wing SCJs and allow Republicans to dictate their agenda for a generation, effectively neutering any advances the couch surfers have made.

But hey, the petulant FYGM crowd will be able to vote for their savior. Winning?

What is the current status of the Tea Party?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_Pa...Current_status

Quote:
Several commentators, including Jonathan Chait,[159] Jenny Beth Martin,[160][161] and Sarah Palin, argued that the Tea Party played a key role in the election of Donald Trump as the Republican Party presidential nominee, and eventually as U.S. president, and that Trump's election was even the culmination of the Tea Party and anti-establishment dissatisfaction associated with it. Martin stated after the election that "with the victory of Donald Trump, the values and principles that gave rise to the tea party movement in 2009 are finally gaining the top seat of power in the White House."[161]

On the other hand, other commentators, including Paul H. Jossey,[162] a conservative campaign finance attorney, and Jim Geraghty of the conservative National Review,[163] believed that the Tea Party to be dead or in decline. Jossey, for example, argued that the Tea Party "began as an organic, policy-driven grass-roots movement" but was ultimately "drained of its vitality and resources by national political action committees that dunned the movement's true believers endlessly for money to support its candidates and causes."[162]

So they were campaigning to increase support for their candidate?

Just wait until you hear that in the general election, those people will literally knock on people's doors to get them to vote for their preferred candidate.

When those people knock on doors, they aren't deliberately misleading the person who answers about where their loyalties lie. But like I said, there's certainly an argument that it's just good strategy, even though it is a bit dishonest.

No, I can't. It's all anecdotal.
We moved to US 2.5 years ago.p
Our co-pay is $25 per visit, whether that is to specialist or GP, including immediate care. Emergency care is $100/visit,unless admitted to hospital, then is no charge.
I have seen a derm and an orthopedist, as specialists, in our time here.my wait time to see specialist in both cases was less 48 hours.
My wife had breast cancer in Canada. No complaints with the care for her treatment there, but because she was so young, and we have a daughter, they put her on list for genetic testing for BRCA. She was on that list for 1.5 years in Montreal. Here, upon initial consultation with oncologist, they also recommended genetic testing, and apologized because the delay for testing was 10 days.

Here's something anecdotal to see how y'all feel U.S. coverage is compared to you guys:

A couple weeks ago my 5 year old needed tubes in his ears and they took out his adenoids. It was an outpatient procedure that did require anesthesia. We were at the hospital for probably 3 hours total.

The bill? Just over $20,000. After insurance, we were left with a $3,000 bill from the hospital. We also received a bill for ~$400 for the anesthesiologist. Not sure if we have seen any other charges, would have to look in the pile.

My kids are under my wife's insurance through her work. I think its Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Luckily we are well enough off to be able to take a hit like that without much problem. But for a lot of people, bills like that are what start the spiral. So the choice is let your kid go through grade school with hearing problems (mine failed his hearing tests) or go broke.

So I'm curious to hear what kind of moon logic makes those who wish to eliminate wealth inequality proponents of FYGM, as opposed to say, Libertarians.

Yeah I do not understand how it all works, tbh, and knowing how to navigate the system a must. And I can't explain why some insurance leaves you with a $3000 bill while other insurance sends you out the door at no cost. Not suggesting US Healthcare isn't a mess, because it is. That $3k bill would bury a lot of people

The Tea Party has morphed into the Trumpsters. Same group of people. Same suckers who fell for a well crafted messaging campaign.

Oh, and the Tea Party was never grassroots. It was always astroturf. From the very first post by Liberty Belle it was nothing but an astroturf operation.

That's the thing, nobody knows how it works, except for the select few at the very top who designed it this way. I would never want to deal with that level of financial uncertainty, which is why I'll never live in the US. The Canadian system isn't perfect, but it's predictable and fair. The few times I've had to go to the emergency room for myself or my kids I'm very grateful that I never even had to think about money

The sooner we get Warren, Sanders and Biden out of the race the better it will be. I do not think any of them can beat Trump. Its going to take an outsider like Pete or Tulsi. If a candidate like that doesn't emerge after a few more states, watch out for Bloomberg

Just curious why you had a $3000 bill? Did you choose a high deductible insurance plan or were certain things not covered?

Mayor Pete would be a hoot just to hear him say

The world in which he has never held office in Washington like the three I mentioned?
