Cool - curious where you purchased the Opus Pronghorn and approximate cost?

This is one of those days where I'm really happy I took the morning off to ride bikes.

I'd be commuting home right about now.

Glad I'm not heading home for another hour...hopefully everything dries out a little bit.

Halfway home along the canal path. Mostly dry with a few puddles and a solid tail wind for a change.
(Doctor’s orders that I stop at least once for the knee.)

I thought I could beat the storm today, so left downtown at around 2:50 heading south via Inglewood.
I was very wrong, and spent some time under the train tracks after one too many hail strikes along 9th ave.
Finally stopped raining around Anderson/Bow Bottom.
You win some, you lose some - still beats the train.

Oh does locking the shocks improve speed? I have that option as well, I'll try it next ride.

I considered leaving at that time, but the radar looked like it was going to maybe clear up, so I held off.

You don't lose any effort to the shocks if they're locked. If you're really pumping your pedals, your shocks will absorb some of that energy and zap momentum.
The biggest benefit to not having shocks at all is the weight savings though.

Well I think it's more for going uphills, but really I'm a pure novice. Someone more knowledgeable here could let us know!

Reduces energy loss. Every time the bike bounces up and down, that's your energy not going into making it go forward. It's a lot worse on full suspension bikes, particularity bad cheap ones.

That was a rather wet CP ride. We truncated it by 20ish kms for safety and miserable weather concerns so it ended up being a Turner Valley to Priddis and back ride. The beer at Fahr was great and the group was too.

We’re looking to do another in September. Possibly the 14th.

Got the Opus down at Cactus, think it was around $4k or something like that. Love riding it to work whenever I can.

ugh, this morning i felt like gear 18 was not enough and 19 was too hard. i'd assume though i was having a slightly better morning than the guy i passed who had a flat (yes i did slow down and ask him if he had what he needed to make the repair).

i have also been somewhat surprised at the number of deer that have been lurking in the treed area behind douglasdale thru to carburn park. sometimes the deer are very close to the path along a blind corner, and some days i wonder if they will suddenly bolt in front of me.

i have been passed a few times by the same guy, he is a biking ninja, as he gives no warning, no bell and his bike is deadly silent......those folks on those electric scooters downtown are sometimes interesting, a guy yesterday was scootering like he was drunk. had to wait a bit before i could comfortably pass him.....e-bikes are just plain annoying......

i would also be remiss if i did not give a special shout out to the motorcyclist the other day who boxed me out on mackenzie towne blvd. this donkey eventually decided it was boring riding in a straight line so he started to do little "c" cuts in the lane and i passed him then slid tot eh left a bit to take more of the lane. i thought that cyclists and motorcyclists were close on the spectrum.....i guess not. my guess is this guys other rig is a jacked up pick up truck with a blue bottle on the exhaust and he likely had white oakleys
