Whatever the sponsor is, it would be cool to pay homage to the Stampede grounds by giving the venue a western word still. Now that the corral is going to be gone with the BMO expansion, would be cool to call the new Flames arena the 'x' Corral.

Maybe they could have game promotions involving work socks for all the lucky season ticket holders in the lower bowl.

It's not the sweetheart deal that Daryl Katz got up in Edmonton, so the city holding firm on funding and location was a good strategy.
Still, the devil is in the details. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Nothing wrong with that.

What Olympic money?
The money that didn’t cover any of the Captial costs for the facilities or the bid that didn’t bother to include a new arena. It will be cheaper not to host the Olympics and build the field house and new arena.

Ive been to rogers place, not impressed. I would rather go to the dome to catch a game.
Really, lots of wasted space, and way overpriced beer.
20+ years in Calgary, went to a few games there, even drove down for a few, liked that experience over Rogers place.

While I would agree with you, I’ve been to several concerts there and am sick of being passed up. I’ll gladly take a slightly worse experience buying beer in exchange for the ability to watch concerts and spend my money in Calgary.

That Olympic money might have helped offset the current property tax crisis we're going through.
Maybe. I don't see how it wouldn't have helped, but hey, at least we told the IOC to eat a dick.

Just for fun...
Name wise we should pull from some Calgary staples:
Fort Calgary Memorial Arena
Mewata Stadium East
Peter's Drive In & Hockey Emporium
Hockey On The Way (logo would be fun)

Rogers Place is kind of funny to me. It is, objectively, a nice arena. And light years ahead of the urine-soaked Northlands Coliseum. But I've been to so many NHL rinks now that I likewise was not blown away. Edmonton did nothing that I haven't seen three times before, and the 2nd level seats are ridiculously cramped for a modern facility.
I suspect I'll be similarly jaded when our own new rink gets built, though obviously it being home will make a big difference.

Ive been to Rogers place for a concert. It reminded me of the Calgary Airport expansion. A ton of space with nothing in it. I was not impressed at all.
The only other hockey arena I've been to was Air Canada centre for a Raptors game. I thought it was awesome. In the concourse the lights weren't super bright, and the vibe kind of reminded me of walking through New York New York in Vegas.

I agree with both.
The arena formerly known as the ACC is awesome.

I've been to a few arenas, and IMO T-Mobil in Vegas is awesome. Lots of seating and eating options, great access in and out, the concourse areas are big and the sight lines are good. The outside area is good, too, and not just because it's just off the strip.
