I would have thought Palmieri would have signed for more than $5M

hard to argue with any of those AAVs. Guess it is a small sample size for Sorokin

Would have loved Palmieri here at that price.

Nothing else announced.
What was the purpose of this delay in announcing? Was reported that Lou didn’t want to file these deals so cap space wasn’t leveraged against him.
Don’t get it. Odd way to do biz.

They're all reasonable. Beauvillier is a bit cheap.
The rumored Cizikas deal could be iffy because of the age and term.

Yeah, I don't really get it. I know Lou is supposed to be some 7th-level genius or something, but I don't see what was accomplished.
Also, this appears to put them over the cap by just under $4 million. Do they have someone to put on permanent LTIR or are they going to have to move someone?

Maybe he was trying to trade a player. If you have to clear cap room, you'll get a worse return. He also might've wanted to trade for a player, but then he would've exceeded the cap by more than the allowed 10%. Since he didn't do any other business until now that is a moot point.
On a different thought, Boychuk is on LTIRetirment right?

So they have about $85,250,000 - What are they looking to do? Need to shed about 3.8 million or so in cap space. 14 f (52.9 million) - 7 D (20.5 million) - 2 G (9 million)

Boychuk already announced his retirement due to an eye injury. He will be on LTIR.
They still haven't announced the Parise contract either.

They will need another Defenseman as well.

Was the Parise contract also reported as a done deal sitting in a drawer? or was it more of a rumor he would sign with the Isles?

I think Beauvillier is the biggest bargain here. I actually like him more than Palmieri.

A lot of people had it as a drawer deal but maybe they have an agreement that they will sign him for the remaining cap space amount once Lou finishes all his deals and LTIR movement.

Maybe Lou announcing these signings means the rest of the dominoes are falling, but just haven't been announced yet.

Lou has really had a career renaissance on the Island.
It seems they have such a strong culture that permeates from the fans, to the front office, to the ice.
They solidly sit as my #2 team now, and are the team I wish the Flames could be (especially in terms of overachieving)

Those all seem very reasonable.
Beauvillier in particular has huge breakout potential IMO. Seeing his AAV makes me think Carolina might wish they offer sheeted him instead of Kotkaniemi. Islanders might have still matched, but I think he would have been the better gamble for an offersheet.

The Palmieri deal is probably the worst of the bunch. Lots of term for a guy who showed signs of decline the last two seasons.
