I'd settle for the game 4 or 5 GWG that seals the series.

I didn't think about this until now, but having this qualifying round can really prove to us whether or not we need to pursue a head coach for next season if Ward doesn't get the job done. If he can get us past the QR and maybe a round in the playoffs, I would personally consider keeping him for an additional year or two.

Rittich 100% recovered from elbow injury.
https://twitter.com/Fan960Steinberg/...62873190436864
"#Flames goalie coach Jordan Sigalet, on today, says David Rittich is 100% and recovered from the elbow injury he was dealing with prior to the pause.
Sigalet says it was nothing serious, just something nagging. Rittich had said he was dealing with bruising and stretched tendons."

So Rittich gets the start in game 1? Goaltending is my big concern for the Flames in this series. Without a string of regular season games to determine the hot hand it’s a complete gamble picking Rittich or Talbot. Also if one struggles in game 1 do you stick with them or make a change? The coaches better get it right since 5 game series don’t leave much room for error.

Yes, all true but remember, their defense 5v5 is very bad. Very bad.
Their high danger chances against are worst in the league. Stay out of the penalty box, keep the game at even strength as much as you can and you should be able to tilt the ice against the Jets.
They can be exploited.

I'm still not convinced that Johnny didn't have two awful cold streaks in the Flames' last two playoffs.
Bold prediction: the play-in series goes five games. Johnny Gaudreau scores five goals.

He did. In our playoff year's we were consistently cursed with Gaudreau and Monahan playing their best hockey in December and cooling off after January.
In those same years their line has been touted as one of the best in hockey mid season only to drop off the radars of the media by playoff time.
Just makes you wonder if the big break and the strange timing of the playoffs this year sees the stars align for the Flames as it pertains to the top players, as maybe, just maybe, we finally get them playing well at the right time.

He will be needed for the hits but my x-factor for success will be a little guy, no not Gaudreau, but....Andrew Mangiapane. I think he has the DNA in him to make a difference come playoff time.

What? The #20-place team has weaknesses, and can be beaten?
Unbelievable.

I don't rate the Jets well at all and love this matchup. Our guys need to show up but this is one of the matchups I'd choose if it were up to me.

Agreed. There best asset is their goalie and all goalies are going to be a bit jittery to start. Little won't be back, their D is pretty meh, and their star sniper winger doesn't train during his off time. If Backlund can contain Scheifele we are gold.

The 8th seed Avs were way better than the Jets

I think Mangiapane is going to be a big time playoff performer. Where Bennett can change the moment of a game with a big hit, I'm predicting Mangiapane to be able to do the same but with his determination and work ethic.

Thanks!
Yes I read more about it and realized that even the teams with the bye play a game to decide seeding. I didn't realize that before.
thanks again.
