11 teams with reps on list for tonight's Flames/Leafs game: DAL, WPG, NJ, MTL, BOS, OTT, PHI, BUF (2, including an Asst GM), LA, NYR, COL
Buffalo again? Sabres and Flames sure are watching each other a lot.

Buffalo has no incentive to trade away what few good pieces they have. I suspect if there's any merit to this Buffalo thing it's some deck chair swap like Bennett, Brouwer and a D prospect for Moulson and Reinhart.

The only guy I'd be interested from Buffalo at a reasonable price is Sam Reinhart. Assuming Jagr isn't here next year, Reinhart would look good on any of the top 3 lines, either with Gaudreau/Monahan, Backlund/Frolik or Jankowski/Bennett.

Anyone ever wonder how much more it would have cost to get Tavares instead of Hamonic? Would the first two seconds and Sam Bennett have been enough?

Not really . Mostly him saying he love NYI.
Maybe Toronto media wishing he’ll sign there . That’s about it . But sure , if we had thrown in Bennett we could have had Tavares and he would have signed here ...

Well I think in retrospect we could have used the assets better . But Tavares would be a pipe dream.

Would it be fair to say that skating is the issue for all of them? Which is weird since the old man was such a great skater (unless my memory is wrong on him - which is possible).
So in some ways a Sam for Sam deal for the Flames wouldn't address one of the core weaknesses (speed) for the Flames. It would actually make it worse.

We would get slower, softer, and smaller - none of which we need.
And we wouldn't get any more talented IMO.
