How about Bennett for Jost?

Goodrow’s not a great compatible. He had term and is making $925K. Bennett is making 2.55 has arb rights and needs his QO to be retained.
Jost might be a good trade though

Berra got a 2nd. It's not out of the realm of possibility for Bennett to grab a 1st. Dumb trades happen all the time at the deadline. Just have to find someone to pay that price.

Absolutely gets a first draft pick.

If he could get a first he’d be gone
Right now I bet teams are offering a third

Bennett could go for anything between a 1st and a 3rd. Depends on the market. But you can bet that whatever he goes for, Treliving will be an idiot for not getting more.

Yes, we absolutily need to trade these free agents. Take high pick with salary dump for one year or retain salary. Bennett and Rittich should get 2nd or late 1st. If 2022 draft is higher take that. Ryan is good C, he should get higher value. For others take what you can get.
Main problem is Covid, but US has less restriction than Canada right?

Agreed, players like Derek Ryan if there is interest should be moved right away (i.e. likely a 3rd or something like that)
Flames chances to make the playoffs are very remote.
Its time to add draft picks etc if they can
(i.e. not a rebuild, as I doubt the ownership will approve)

I’m not so sure about this. Can Sam Bennett be ‘Playoff Sam Bennett’ for more than 4-7 games? Setting the bar at a 1st is setting yourself up for disappointment.

As a reminder Ryan has been available twice on waivers
I think he has value at the deadline but expectations should be tempered

That’s largely due to his cap hit. 50% retention and taking back a player with a 1-2m contract that is playing bad hockey (with the contract expiring) could land us a 3rd + prospect, maybe a 2nd if they can get it conditional. I think some teams are gonna get desperate come deadline, but I’m not banking on it.

If Bennett could have brought in a first, he’s already be gone.
I doubt his trade value has increased any over the last month.

If this team isn’t lazy, then they wouldn’t need a head coach dismissal to light a fire under their ass every season. If Andrew Mangiapane is the standard for hard work, then the rest of this team is without a doubt one of the laziest teams I’ve ever seen. Nobody knows what to expect from this group from any given game, any given period, heck, any given shift.

If they do move Ryan I hope he is re-signed in the off-season.

lots of players went through the waivers.
Its all about cap space or lack there of.
To move a player like Ryan is going to be like the Staal trade.
Teams are going to have to eat some of the cap and the return is likely a 3rd or 4th

If I had to guess on trade value ,
Bennett for a 3rd
Ritchie for a 4th
Ryan for a 5th

have a feeling Bennett will get a second, prob a late second. I personally would like to see Gio get a shot for a cup, we can use the cap space

Posting this not as a credible rumor but just b/c it's interesting
https://www.nhltraderumors.me/2021/0...traded-to.html
"If this deal is to occur, the Flames would have to retain 50% of Gaudreau's $6.75 million cap hit and possibly take Alex Kerfoot's $3.5 million contract. The Leafs would also have to give up Rasmus Sandin or Nick Robertson, along with an early draft pick."
So let's say Johnny 50% retained for Kerfoot+Robertson+late 1st?
Yes/no.
I think I do that. Kerfoot is a useful player but Robertson is the prize here.
Classic Al Coates "something now something later" deal.

I don’t see the flames eating half of Johnny’s contract for a year and a half
