Looking at this, I suppose it breaks down that the Sharks had to send one additional 1st to clear the cap space for the deal, so it is more like:

Monahan
22' 1st
Top 25 1st
1st (EDM) 22'
2023 3rd

So 3 1sts and Monahan for that package. Looks better that way, although still a bit light. Kucherov and Ekblad are top tier RFA's, with the bonus of Kucherov likely signing a cheaper RFA contract.

But not nearly as lopsided as the Ryan Strome deal.

Kucherov is a huge question mark...yes sign him at a cheaper contract but who knows what his rating will be, if last year taught us anything it could be unplayable.

It is what it is, risk reward IMO

Kucherov is a good gamble. He's probably going to have a bad rating next year but you can re-sign him for 3 years and then have a cheap but elite player in years 2 and 3.

Carter may yet retire, though he certainly looks rejuvenated in Pittsburgh. But he wasn't adding much of anything to my roster after the Hayes acquisition. This way I get to participate in the draft too :P

We have been after Aho for over a year so happy to finally be able to add him to the squad. We think Dubois will have a rebound season next year and is a solid young C. However, given the chance to finally add Aho and we had to jump. Now down another 2022 pick we will try to hold onto some of the 1sts moving forward. Looking forward to seeing Aho line up alongside Mackinnon next season.

I think Flambers should have at least included Aho on the trade block, massive mistake imo.
