Locations of outbreaks in acute care and continuing care facilities are reported publicly when there are 2 or more cases, indicating that a transmission within the facility has occurred.

Prisons, correctional facilities, shelters, child care settings, work camps, food processing/manufacturing facilities and public settings (restaurants, salons, gyms) are listed when there are 5 or more cases.

Events and other workplaces (like office buildings) are listed when there are 10 or more cases.

Outbreaks are declared over when 4 weeks have passed with no new cases, so not all outbreaks listed below have current transmission happening.

So, for all the handwringing about social gatherings, the available outbreak data doesn't particularly support it being any worse. Since they've failed to provide any other data, this and geo-spatial is the best we can do right now.

It's a pretty even distribution across various sectors and industries. Upstream food prep continues to be problematic, along with industrial settings. Thank god the surface contact doesn't seem to much of an issue, because our food supply would be ####ed.

A lot of low-wage, volume based jobs where there isn't much alternative to having individual people prepare/assemble/package stuff.

Mild LOL: a couple religious spots, a ladies hair salon, and a gentleman's magic club. Upon further research, it is a venue where women magically remove their clothes.

Itís okay. Iíve accepted that despite any data being presented on its efficacy and affirmative in its fault, bars after 10 are for nothing more than young people who want to get laid and swap Covid. Highly unlikely it will move people from controlled, regulated environments to private spaces where distancing and sanitization protocols are entirely unenforceable.
Well I guess Toronto reported a high level of outbreaks from bars, probably only from those late night hoodlums.

Drinks at my place. Donít worry, itís a reasonable size, I can probably stay 6 feet from you. No guarantee we wonít be arrested and fined however, in which case next rounds on you.

This.

I went skiing yesterday and they have a "wear a mask and maintain your distance in the lift line" requirement.

Yet I'd say a third of people were still pulling down their masks at the base of the lift (haven't seen that many uncovered faces since February) and crowding in the lines. They had staff walking the lines and reminding people at the base of the resort, but mid-mountain and backside were a complete free for all with people acting like everything was back to normal.

If people can't even be bothered to pull a mask over their face while waiting in line at a ski resort... ugh.

It is the same with hockey, I am constantly having to kick parents out of the locker room as well as remind coaches to keep their masks on when we are in there with the kids. Those are the rules. I want to keep playing and coaching, keep your goddamn mask on your face and if you are late I will tie your kids skates. GTFO.

We stopped one parent as they were coming into the rink as we had heard through the grapevine that they were a close contact of a COVID case and had received a letter saying to isolate. Sure enough, they had received a letter and were still coming to the rink.

This is why we can't have nice things...

So they followed protocol, the problem is that the protocols are bad. They went by 3 months without a single case with these protocols. They could have touted the same thing, that they had zero cases and safe.

One person comes in with covid, they get 72 cases.

All it takes is one person to think they can work through the symptoms. It's always been a roulette game.

I most certainly have worked out at the gym fighting a mild flu or a cold before. I shouldn't have but I have. All it takes is one person to think that way. We've have a few people here who got covid because someone in their group of friends selfishly decided to go camping versus isolating (the camping trip example from a few months ago)

It comes down that you have a period of time without masks in a high risk situation, it doesn't matter the social distancing in an indoor setting or that you wear masks before and after a class, or put hand sanitizer 10 times. The risks exists.

It's a sad situation all around. While I do think gym can and should be open and there are much worse offenders, it's only a number game if no masks are worn, and I think they need to be worn even (especially) during exercising.
Not sure if you read my earlier posts, but my business had two positive Cases back in July. There was no spread despite the positive cases in our business over multiple days. So maybe itís not as black and white as to what the risks are.
