The split up was completely preventable, and they let it come to this, led by Giordano.
Seattle taking him would be doing us a favour at his salary. Sincerely hope management sees that reason over sentimentality.
I would love the restart that shedding his or Lucic' salary would present the team, with Ryan, Bennett and Rittich also coming off the books.
Maybe the GM could finally go use that money wisely, and a couple savvy signings along with a Gaudreau or Monahan trade could help spur on a quick retool.
Pending UFAs include: Palmieri, RNH, Landeskog, Hall, Gallagher, Getzlaf, Iaffalo, Danault, Saad, Kreicji, and ####ing Alex Ovechkin (foregone conclusion he re-ups with WSH, but we can throw the bank at him, right?).
Landeskog would be a monster add from both a skill and leadership perspective.

I would be shocked if the Flames wern't eyeing Hyman, Landeskog and Lowry in free agency if they get there. All three would fit Sutter's style like a glove.
Oleksiak would also be a great add for this team.

Lowry would be great. Like a discount Josh Anderson.

I'll be livid. Pay draft picks to preserve THIS roster? Imagine trying to sell that to ownership?

In my eyes they would do that scenario to save Gio. I think ownership would be fine with it for Gio. I would hate it.

My gut tells me that he stays in Winnipeg.
His Dad is there with the team and apparently he loves it.
He would be a great add though.

Might be the most under rated or under appreciated player in the league.
I highly doubt Sakic lets him walk though. Team captain and a vital piece up front.
He will cost them some serious dinero but he is a guy you just dont let go.

When Lowry got drafted there was a story about how Dave didn't want his son being drafted by Calgary.

Any two of Landeskog, Hyman, Lowry, RNH, Gallagher would be outstanding.
Here's hoping Seattle takes one of those two big contracts.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Brendon Gallagher? Habs extended him, he won't be a UFA for years

I wonder if there was a team who just offered last minutes a 6th for a bunch of different depth guys at 50% hoping for a bite (Ryan, Dzingel, Helm, B Ryan, etc.)

Probably something like that. GMs would be right to tell that team where to go.

It was in reference to players protected at the expansion draft (7 F, 3 D, 1 G)
