Phillips finds himself currently sitting 9th in points at 45 on the year just 9 points behind the league leader and also has the 2nd most goals in the dub with 24, 5 behind the league leader. He's doing all this in his sophomore year as an undersized forward in one of the more rough leagues of the CHL. Currently on a 9 game point streak with 8 G and 9 A for 17 pts in that span! Seems to be driving the offense of that team.

Was at the Royals game tonight, I usually go 10-15 times a year but haven't been able to catch any this year. Phillips looks like he has made some big improvements since last year, he was dangerous everytime he touched the puck and scored a very nice goal on his first shift and made several amazing plays that had me super impressed, as well as some nice back checking and even got physical a couple times when on the back check. I have no idea what to expect of him at the next level but man this kid is special with the puck.

OHL/WHL trade deadlines are today, but some of the teams Flames prospects are on have already made moves.
Looks like Parsons will have a real chance to defend his OHL championship.
The London Knights made a huge splash yesterday ahead of today's OHL trade deadline acquiring C Mitchell Stephens, D Mitch Vande Sompel, and RW Dante Saliutro. The Knights are currently 2nd in the Western Conference. These additions will go a long way in helping them win the conference and go deep into the playoffs.
The Otters and Spitfires also made big moves in acquiring Cirelli and Bracco respectfully. Should be a fun conference to watch.
The Silvertips also made a big move a few days ago in acquiring D Aaron Irving. Everett is currently ranked #3 in the latest CHL poll and has been in the top 10 for most of the season. Tuulola should get a lot of playoff experience.
Dube's Rockets currently 3rd in the BC division shuffled their forwards, moving out Kryski, Stadel, Borstmayer and bringing in Twarynski and Gardiner.
Phillip's Royals currently sitting in a wild card spot traded for a 19 year old veteran d-man Loch Morrison
Schneider's Tigers currently sitting in 1st in the central division acquired D Jordan Henderson
Will be interesting to see if these teams do anything else today.

Dube finished with the hat trick and added an assist as well. Playing pretty well since coming back from the world juniors. 8 points in 4 games. Phillips held pointless in the game.

Was at the Royals Rockets game tonigbt. Dube was notable every shift, his first goal was amazing, stuck between the defenders legs at full speed at the blue line and finished 1 on 1 with the goalie, his third goal was also very nice as he skipped around the defender with a super quick move and cut in and scored. Phillips was quite and was matched up with Foote all night. Also if the Flames are picking in the 15 range Callan Foote would be a great pick. Kid is huge but seems like a great skater for his size as he was able to shutdown all the Royals small fast guys. He's gonna be a really good top 4 Dman, maybe top pairing potential.

Dube is that dynamic at this level when he is on... Even in his first season when he was 16 barely playing he stood out to me every time he was on the ice. His numbers aren't as gaudy as some of the other big WHL scorers only because the Rockets have had so much forward depth and spread the icetime around in years past.
He should have been a lead dog on a thinner team this year right from the get go and seen big point increases but came back injured from Flames camp and has only gradually come back to full speed. Especially as Merkley pretty much looks like a shell of his former self since all the knee injuries for me Dube is clearly their best offensive forward now.
I dunno what his future looks like in the Flames system though as he seems pretty blocked behind Gaudreau, Tkachuk and a few good prospects on the left side and I don't see him playing centre at the NHL level due to size, though could be wrong.

Freaking Matt Phillips has 2 goals against the Hitmen tonight and we just started the 2nd period.
5 goals in 2 games for him and the 2nd game is just a 3rd done
34th goal of the season, which puts him 3rd in the WHL in goals just 4 behind the lead.

Phillips been on a tear since Vic got smashed by the Rockets 9-2. Such a talented player, so hard for me to pin point what type of player he will be but he's so talented offensively and he isn't just a perimeter player. He goes to the dirty areas to score most of his goals. Dube and Phillips are both looking like really good picks

How the other CHL prospects did tonight:
In a wild game Medicine Hat won 8-5 over the #1 CHL team Regina Pats.
Schneider was pulled after 22:36 minutes. The Pats made it 4-3 Tigers, after the Tigers went up 3-0 in the first half of the 1st period.
38gp 3.29gaa 0.891sv% 26w 9l 1otl
Parsons gives up 2 goals on 36 shots in his 4th game since the WJC. 7-2 Knights.
20gp 2.35gaa 0.922sv% 13w 2l 2otl 3sol
Parsons has still to lose a game in regulation since returning from the WJC
Dube didn't play in the game against the Giants. According to team's twitter feed he is sick, not injured.
16gp 6g 13a 19pts +8 20pim
Tuulola had 0g 0a in a 1-0 game with Seattle, 2 periods done
32gp 11g 8a 19pts +1 16pim
and as mentioned above Phillips with 3g 1a in a 7-2 win over Calgary
46gp 35g 24a 59pts +31 36pim
Phillips ranks 2nd in goals, 8th in points, 6th in +/-, 5th in pp goals, and 18th in pts per game for the WHL
