I think Greenway is a great option for the Flames...he has good skating for his size and might be able to keep up with the high speed Flames during their transitions. He has the ability to stay strong down low and protect the puck in a way similar to Colborne, has got good hockey IQ which he uses to drive three zone play, something the Flames have emphasized the past few years. I think he would be an excellent complementary player for the Flames even if his overall talent never gives him a shot at the top 6.

Man, Can we just use all three of our second rounders and draft these right-handed D that could be there in the 2nd? Spencer, Juulsen, Meloche, Cernak... at least one of 'em's got a pan out right?

A couple of defencemen right in our wheelhouse. I imagine Parker Wotherspoon should be around there as well.

It's crazy that Korostelev is 49. Even for a D liability.

I have also read from two different scouting services that watching Korostelev always leaves you wanting more.
Doesn't do anything in particular well.

Hey, I am totally fine is Korostelev falls to the 2nd round and the Flames snag him and take a chance with one of their 3 picks.

Brisebois is a very good skater. He has good speed and acceleration in both directions. Add to his speed, a quick first step, excellent edgework, and quick pivots, and he can change directions very quickly and is very difficult to beat off the rush. Brisebois could work on his lower body strength and balance though.

Guillaume Brisebois mains good gap control in the defensive zone and forces forwards to the outside. He has a solid poke check which seperates opponents from the puck. His good footwork and solid skating make Brisebois difficult to beat in one-on-one situations, be they off the rush, or in keeping his man to the outside in the cycle game. He uses that quick stick to cut down on passing lanes and opportunities. He also shows good positioning in his own end. While Brisebois shows a willingness to battle in the corners and in front of the net, he isn’t a big hitter. He will also need to get physically stronger in order to clear the front of the net and win battles in the corners at the next level, but has a good frame that he can add muscle to.

I'm always impressed when a player makes Team Canada. Only downside is his -40 but that's on a terrible team. 6'2" with room to grow sounds good to me.

Another interesting tidbit from the write up on Brisebois is the stylistic comparison to our very own Dennis Wideman.

Today no profile.... Instead a mem cup preview.
I'll be doing a Mem Cup Preview podcast with Yahoo's Neate Seager tonight as well.
For this article if you click on the player's name you get an earlier story about them... ie for Hunter Smith, you will get my interview with him from September.

Draft all the Wotherspoons!
In all seriousness though, he seems like a good prospect. Solid two-way play, good skater, great hockey IQ. Adding another defenseman of that ilk surely wouldn't hurt one bit.
