Given his tweet and the fact that he played for a few minutes after the injury leads me to believe it's nothing too serious. Providence plays again this weekend so we'll see how quickly he bounces back.

Gilles was back in net tonight.
@FriarsHockey: Friars win, 4-2! PC splits the season series with UNH. PC goals: Shamanski, Acciari, Luke (GWG), Mauermann. Gillies with 32 saves.

One thing that I thought of as a plus was having Gillies in college. We get 4 years to watch him develop and face a lot of pucks before we have to sign him. I think a goalie turning pro and only having 4 years to find if he's an NHL player isn't enough with goalies.

^ I doubt Gillies stays 4 years in college, wouldn't be surprised if he signs this year. He's already showing he's too good for NCAA.

Yeah, I understand that. I guess if he's ahead of schedule he has to move up or stagnate. I was saying how I originally thought when we acquired him.

I'll be surprised if he doesn't turn pro this spring, Apparently he's not a big fan of school and wanted to play for the Remparts in the Q rather than the college route but his dad (a minor league goalie himself) insisted on school for something to fall back on.
The kid was born to stop a puck(literally) and probably can't wait to sign a pro contract.

Yeah, the mask on the right is for a women's goalie from Cornell. Unrelated to Gillies other than they went to the same mask painter.

Another 45 saves in a 3-3 tie. Season high for Gillies.

The stat line for this kid is reassuring. 1.41 GAA and .945 through 14 games. Seems pretty remarkable.

Not to take anything away from him.. but its a pretty low scoring league. He only has the 3rd best GAA in the league and 4th best save percentage.

Jon Gillies (3rd rounder 2012)
Jon was on the Fan this morning. I'll post the audio when it's up. Here are some tweets:
@FAN960Jason: Gillies: "People put expectations on you, but pressure you put on yourself. If you take it a day at a time you remember how fun the game is"
@FAN960Jason: Jon Gillies says he checks in at about 6'5", 220lbs right now. Says he's not a guy who relies strictly on being huge in goal. #Flames
@FAN960Jason: Gillies on #Flames brass: "I talk to them about once a week, just weekly check-ins. They've been out to two or three games."
@FAN960Jason: Gillies on #Flames Brossoit trade: "If anything it's just extra motivation. If they believe in me like that I want to make them look good."

^^220 lbs is a bit on the heavier side for a goalie, no?
Although I guess Mike Smith is 215, Marty is 220, Luongo is 205 at least, so it's probably not a huge deal.
