I'm sure they have regular conversations about how players are performing and who may be in line to be called up if necessary. If they have to call up a player it's going to be for the role that Darryl expects in the call up. I'm sure Treliving has players on the Wranglers he would prefer to see in the Flames lineup but he has to defer to his two-time Stanley Cup winning coach when it comes to the players that are going to see the ice.

I would actually be surprised if Treliving and Sutter don't see eye-to-eye on the great majority of hockey ops decisions.

Which players? Paul Byron? St. Louis? It doesn't seem like a very big list, especially when compared to those smaller players the team actually developed.

There is zero doubt Phillips is a better option than Coleman. So he is the guy I would target. Maybe Rooney could be waived too.

Then if you must you put Phillips where Dube is and slide Dube to fill Coleman’s spot.

Also wasn’t Sutter the one who came in and said this is merit based? No one is entitled to play in the NHL?

Wow- sure doesn’t look like it.
Admit it ... you chuckled at the irony of Coleman opening the scoring on Saturday night!

Sutter always likes to differ attention from his team or player if it's a tough situation. I think with Sutter's comments he's trying to lower the "saviour" aspect that some fans have that Phillips will magically solve the problems.

I'm sure that if Matthew Phillips continues to play this way, he'll get his shot. Then it's up to him. It's also more than likely that if Phillips comes up, he's going to struggle for a while. Eat bread didn't have much success when he first arrived either and I think a good part of the commentaries is to deflect a bit and ease pressure a bit when he does come up.

Pretty sure the Flames have called up Matthew Phillips for the next 3 road games. Was posted by a close relative on Facebook congratulating him.

Let djsFlames have this one. He needs a win.

Don’t recommend DMing him though.

56 regular season games left. 23 game playoff run to the Cup. Win Conn Smyth. And retain his rights as a RFA with 80 games played.

It’s all unfolding perfectly!
