Now that I see it, like the Elkhounds. If they choose that name maybe they can get away from the abomination that is "Punter".

Evergreens? There just aren't enough sports teams named after inanimate objects.
Elk and Elkhounds --- a majestic animal that is native to Alberta, or a dog that was bred to hunt that majestic animal?

These names are terrible. Maybe it's me but I feel the Edmonton Empire would be better than all of these.

I guess. Just very slowly.
I'd say if the only way you can see something move is through the use of time lapse photography, it's safe to call it inanimate. I also don't count movement caused by external forces like the wind.

Personally I like the Elk name. Sounds very Canadian. Eagles sounds like an American name and there are already the Philadelphia Eagles. All the rest are terrible.

Stamps have inked Canadian QB Michael O'Connor...
The Calgary Stampeders have signed Canadian quarterback Michael O’Connor, per league sources.
O’Connor played in two games for the Toronto Argonauts during his rookie season in 2019. He made the most of his limited action, completing 15-of-25 pass attempts for 173 yards with one touchdown, and zero interceptions.
After being selected in the third round, 20th overall in the 2019 CFL Draft, O’Connor was the Argos third-string signal caller between McLeod Bethel-Thompson and James Franklin the last time the CFL played football.

Watched O'Connor when he played here with UBC. Heck of an arm, but I wasn't really impressed with him. Now granted he spent a bunch of time running for his life against the Dino's D Line.

With this signing, the Stamps have re-united the UBC dynamic duo of O'Connor and Pinto.

He seemed really quiet-spoken, almost Jay Bouwmeester like. Odd considering he plays QB. Happy to bring him in though — we’ll see what Dickenson can do to develop him.

Elkhounds wasn't on the radar before, so I have a feeling they've already chosen it. Public surveys are just for show.
Edmonton Elks is a fraternal organization with the dot com domain already.
Elkhound may be Norwegian, but neither are Lions and Tiger Cats native to Canada.
It's an Arctic Dog -- close enough. Huskies, like Eagles is a ubiquitous sports team name.

New piece on 3downnation - The Coles notes version is Ambrosie thinks it will be north of a million dollars per team as far as COVID testing etc. is concerned to get the product on the field in 2021 and is hoping for provincial/federal assistance with that cost. He also says that fans in the stands is key (duh) and will be likely dictated by how quickly vaccinations are rolled out. Ends the article by saying he won't guarantee a 2021 season, but says he feels very, very good about having a CFL season in 2021.
