And for Bennett, that sucks.
Feel free to post what you think Peters is going to go with, if you don't agree.

I do think they'll look at all of the following at some point too ...
Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Tkachuk - Backlund - Bennett
Tkachuk - Backlund - Lindholm

I don't disagree. Although I expect that in this construction Mangiapane and Bennett would be swapped back and forth.

I find it extremely interesting that they are looking at Bennett at centre again (if this projection holds true).

It would eliminate the need to look outside for a centre (The Kadre trade) as we have a glut of LW’ers.

Bennett at C with Tkachuk on his wing would be intriguing

If Bennett works out at centre, a few years down the line a Tkachuk-Bennett-Pelletier line could be a very good line, and a pain in the butt for other teams

Is this also saying something about Jankowski? If this plays out - it will only be one preseason game - so likely not. But seeing both at centre and what they can produce is something I'm looking at.
However yes these potential combinations are intriguing. Lindholm at centre too
Monahan
Backlund
Lindholm
Bennett
Jankowski
Ryan
(Dube)
What is the long term succession plan at C? What about wingers?

There is absolutely no way mangiapane starts tge season above Bennett on the depth chart.
Mangiapane was pretty disappointing all preseason. I wouldn't be surprised to see him as the 13th forward to start the year.

Weird. I thought Mangiapane had a pretty good preseason.

All of the Canucks pre-season games have been on SN—in that instance, it was not a Flames broadcast. This is an issue with the regional rights-holders, and I don't believe it has to do with market-size or share; the Jets have had all of their pre-season games televised by TSN.

If anyone needs a preseason tune-up it's SN.

My guess is they want to show that he's not hurt, that he's got the competitive fire AND that the organization is treating him carefully and looking out for him.
The media gets their hype package delivered a few weeks ago with the main talking points, from the Oilers. I'm sure the 1st bullet points have to deal with how to frame the McDavid situation.
And the fact that it's pointed out it's the organization, not just the coach, making the call, is more telling.
Surprised at Lucic and Rieder. Though Rinaldo for sure tonight.

As the 13th guy he would save the club 300K on the cap IIRC. That could be valuable through the year in accumulating space for the deadline when they may be looking to really go for it depending on where they are in the standings, and more importantly, how they are playing after the mandated CBA break.
Otherwise, yup this is the lineup minus Ryan.
|
I tend to agree with this. Czarnik has scored some goals this preseason but there's probably nothing less important than pre season scoring statistics. If you really want to run with Reider for a while, why not use Quine as your 13th forward and save a little cabbage.
I could be dead wrong but I believe Czarnik would clear waivers. This isn't Paul Byron who actually played well whenever he was on the ice. Czarnik will turn 27 this season and is still essentially a project.
