Default Aron Eisenberg (Nog - DS9) passed away

No word yet on why. He was only 50.

He was a great background character on DS9. One of the best minor character arcs was when he lost his leg and then withdrew to the holosuite.

IIRC Aron had been dealing with kidney problems through his whole life including receiving a transplant.

From the tributes pouring in it sounds like he was just a really nice man.

Apparently he was only born with one kidney.

He had his own photography site as well.

One of the best "background" characters in the history of tv imo.

.

They had a similar story line in Battlestar Galactica too. What always takes me out of it, is that in the future you'd expect medical technology to advance to the point they could regrow a limb or the prosthetics would be so good that the fake limbs would be far superior to the real thing.

Even now, prosthetics are getting close in function to the real thing. In a few hundred years you'd expect them to be amazing.

I think the prosthetic was amazing, basically completely up to function of the real limb. But he suffered PTSD from the incident and only found relief/escape from it in the holodeck.

Even though it was a perfect new leg, it still hurt, PTSD is the best description.

He wanted to hide from the world.
