I just love everything about the start of baseball season. The optimism of a new season with the optimism of spring makes me so happy.

I really like the makeup of the team. It may not tear the cover off of the ball every game but they will be much more of fundamentally sound team with amazing depth. The bullpen is deep but isn’t elite which likely will hinder their chances at a real playoff run but they can likely address that at the deadline.

Go Jays go!

I'd like to play a game. Predict:
  • How many wins the Jays will get?
  • The player who will be the MVP on the team, and why?
  • The player who will be most disappointing?
  • The player who will be most surprising?
  • What will happen at the deadline?
  • How far will the Jays make it (presumably in the playoffs)?
I'll go first:
  • How many wins the Jays will get? 94
  • The player who will be the MVP on the team, and why? Vlad. I think he has a lot to prove this year and he'll kill it.
  • The player who will be most disappointing? I think it'll be both Chapman and Kiermaier. I think in the sudden change in direction to be defensive minded first, they've really honed in on that and the yo yo's season these guys will be having at the plate will drive us fans crazy.
  • The player who will be most surprising? Espinal. There's something I've seen in him for a couple years now where I think he has a chance to be really good. I think he'll win an everyday spot at 2nd eventually.
  • What will happen at the deadline? They get a bonafide closer behind Romano
  • How far will the Jays make it (presumably in the playoffs)? ALCS and lose to the Yanks

  • How many wins the Jays will get? 97
  • The player who will be the MVP on the team, and why? Bo. He’s signed and happy and I think he’ll be ready to absolutely rake.
  • The player who will be most disappointing? Varsho. He’ll be great defensively but I think it will take him time to get comfortable in the AL. I also think Kirk might take a step back this year.
  • The player who will be most surprising? Otto Lopez. I think he’ll get a good chance to get a good number of at bats and will make a splash.
  • What will happen at the deadline? Definitely get a high end reliever.
  • How far will the Jays make it (presumably in the playoffs)? ALCS.

The most promising season in a very long time.

Batting, starting pitching and bullpen all look above average to elite.

Also intrigued by the new rule changes that hopefully speed up the game a bit and add some more small ball.

Already booked to see two series in person. One in Toronto and one in Seattle.

The Seattle series should be especially interesting given Teo's there now and the playoff debacle of last year.

The player who will be the MVP on the team, and why? Varsho. He's rated as one of, if not the, best outfielder in the game and will almost certainly be CF next season, he hits bombs, he runs fast... all he needs to do is hit for average and he's in the convo for best player in the game (or would be in a world where you don't have a guy that is both an Ace starter and all star level hitter).

The player who will be most disappointing? Gausman. Hard to be as good as he has been while dealing with the change to the clock and balk enforcement.

The player who will be most surprising? Cavan Biggio

What will happen at the deadline? I really want to say Ohtani... but it'll be some bullpen arms and a bench bat.

How far will the Jays make it (presumably in the playoffs)? Oh geez... nope... I'm just going to be a Homer on this question, it's more fun... All The Way Baby!

The player who will be the MVP on the team, and why? Bo. Just a feeling.
The player who will be most disappointing? Springer - more injuries.
The player who will be most surprising? Kiermaier.
What will happen at the deadline? Starting pitcher.
How far will the Jays make it (presumably in the playoffs)? Lose in the World Series.

Hazel is awesome. I expect her role within the Sportsnet team will grow and wouldn’t be surprised if she starts doing some work in the booth some time.

I kinda get annoyed at certain business decisions. While I don't really care at Rogers trying out the remote play by play this upcoming year, they make the decision to have Hazel Mae fly down game after game to give sideline "reports" that have never offered any value. Anyway, just my old self getting annoyed at something random.

This has been the deadest I've ever seen Blue Jays discussion in March on CP, but I am really excited at how close we are to opening day. MLB season start always has a more special feeling to me than the other sports.

I think some of it has to do with it representing spring and summer approaching. Can't wait, I think if our pitching can hold up we're going to be a surprising team this season.

This Jays team IMO is capable of a 100+ wins if pretty much everything goes right.

Probably means we should expect 95~ wins or so?

Here's to hoping
