Default Clang Count

Updated posts and cross bars after Mangiapane's double clank last night.

Flames in 1st now ... 3 way tie.

CGY 47
NYR 47
FLA 47
SEA 43
WSH 43

Chicago last with 18
Median is 33

No way of assigning more goals to posts but if you're +14 to the median should be worth what 5-6?

Individual:
Row Labels Sum of Iron

Alex Ovechkin 10
Tyler Toffoli 9
Connor McDavid 9
William Nylander 8
Tage Thompson 8
Pierre-Luc Dubois 8

Kyle Connor 8
Nathan MacKinnon 7
Nikita Kucherov 7
J.T. Miller 7

Drake Batherson 7
Andrei Svechnikov 7
Andrew Mangiapane 7

Puck luck has been terrible this year. Finally got a bounce or two last night and the Flames win. That was still with 2 crossbars and a bad bounce on the goal against. Gotta hope this changes soon.

Hey Bingo,

Does NHL.com have the sats per team or did you have to pull them out by player and then combine.
?

Both Flames and Panthers at the top of the list.

Both teams struggling to win consistently.

God I hate the randomness of hockey sometimes.

also: I'm upset that this thread was not called the "doink" count in honour of Loubo.

A little puck luck goes a long way, especially for a team that leads the league in 1 goal games. Those 5 or 6 goals could easily mean a handful of more points.

Yep!

Last year most everything went right ... great team!
This year not the best puck luck ... we suck!

Ok thanks.

That's how I have been doing it and then trying to figure out for what team a player clanked it if that player played for 2 or more teams during the season!

To be honest, I think the team is playing the same way, they just aren't getting that extra goal and then piling on with empty netters. I haven't checked, but I would guess the Flames are near the bottom with empty net goals.

Thanks for compiling. I figured Toffoli would be up there. If you count last season, I wouldn't be surprised if he leads the league.

I am not sure what can really be taken away from it, but it sure is interesting (and frustrating). Eventually this has to normalize, I hope.

Since NHL keeps track (09/10 season) Ovi has hit iron 125 times in 994 games.

What were our post numbers last year? Is there actually correlation between posts and success?

Even if our post numbers were higher and there is a correlation, I'm not sure if that is enough to convince me that there is any meaningful correlation (you know, all that jazz about causation).

I don't think it is luck that our guys can't shoot the puck in the net. Hitting the post is no different that missing the net by an inch. They're both still not scoring.

I hate to call you out in public like this Bingo, but I believe the proper term is "Doinks" in the famous words of Peter Loubardias.

I'm not sure I'm 100% on board with that.

Hitting a post is beating a goaltender and then literally missing by an inch ... shouldn't be grouped into missing the net entirely in my opinion.

But no I'm certainly not suggesting this is the difference between 1st wildcard and 1st in the division.
