I would suspect this lands on the last or second-last Sunday in October.

So a Halloween theme....
Maybe they should invite the Canucks instead?

Does the heat intensify the smell of despair and raw sewage?

Probably similar to the one the Flames played in Regina, which was the last Saturday of October.

As the Stadium Series games played in California and such have shown, they can make ice that can hold up under those conditions, especially once the sun goes down and the temperature drops. It's better than trying to contend with -20 or worse, which is miserable for everyone and makes for awful hockey.
At that time of year, sunset in Edmonton is about 6:00pm, so by an 8:00pm start time, it will have cooled down even if it was a hot day.

This year, on October 17, the high in Edmonton was 23.1, which happened in the middle of the afternoon. By 8:00pm, it was down to 13.0.

Only thing wrong really wrong with Commonwealth is that stupid track that puts you so far from the field. stadium is fine. just not great for football.

This will likely feature 2000 and up alumni, so I could see a white chevron-striped uniform, with the Blasty shoulder patch. Assuming the home team wears dark.

Do the Oil even have enough former players willing to return to Edmonton to ice a team? Maybe enough Gretzky Estates boxed wine does the convincing.

Watching alumni 80s Oilers in another game doesn't excite me at all, not like you don't see them wearing the ugly unis every year anyways. I'd be more into it if it happened in 2002.

So new alumni eh? Will James Neal dress for Calgary or Edmonton? How about Mike Smith?

An Edmonton-based team hasn't won there in years. Let's keep it that way.
