Sergeev just took a shot at an empty net goal. Looked dead center, but a BC defender got in the way at the opposite blueline

Sergeev and UConn win their regular season finally 6-5. Big win for UConn as the win gives them a good shot at home ice next week for a division playoff game

not the best game for Sergeev giving up 5 goals on 24 shots

Wonder if they'll keep switching during the playoffs or stick to one goalie

It looks like it's all single-elimination from here out for them, so I'd think they'll ride one goalie until the end. Their stats are so similar that I'm not sure who it will be.

Boltmann’s Fighting Irish lost their best of three Big 10 quarterfinals. Doubt Notre Dame will be invited to the Frozen Four tournament, so Boltmann’s season is likely over. Potentially, his college hockey career could be over if he signs with the Flames

My understanding is that Coronato can only sign once his season ends.

When is the earliest we think that could be?

Since Harvard is ranked 5th/6th in the country, virtual certainty that they will be invited to the Frozen Four Regional Tournament, even if they do not win the ECAC. 16 teams go to the Regionals - 6 Division winners plus 10 invites mostly based on pairwise rankings. Regionals are March 23-26; if Harvard is knocked out at the Regionals, he could sign immediately after; if they advance further, the Frozen Four is in Tampa from April 6-8th.

So, if his team makes it all the way and the Flames are waiting there right after to sign him, he might make it to Calgary for the last 2 games of the season. He'd pretty much have to be on the plane that night to make it, otherwise just 1 game. Hopefully the signing bonus and burning a year while only having to play a couple of games is enough of an incentive for him.

UMass lost their opening round match against Boston College tonight, which potentially brings an end to Josh Nodler's college career after 3 years at MSU and 1 at UMass.

It was his worst college season, only 5 points in 27 games and he didn't play in their final 4 games.

I believe he has one more optional year of eligibility because of COVID.

Boltman and Nodler were, and continue to be, baffling picks.

Boltmann was off the board, but I thought Nodler went around where he was expected to go, and when you're late in the 5th round, everyone is just hoping for the best at that point.

What was baffling about Nodler? He was good enough to make the American U18 Hlinka team, get invited to the U20 evaluation camp, and put up 42 points in 54 USHL games and was on the USHL all-rookie team that year, his draft year.

He was a 5th round pick. Most 5th rounders don't turnout.

As for Boltmann, I would not count him out. Don't focus just on numbers. He has good attributes

Coronato with two assists as Harvard beats Princeton 6-1 in game 1 of the ECAC quarterfinals. Game 2 is tomorrow and game 3 is Sunday if necessary

It looks like Sergeev got the start today for UConn. Unfortunately, they're down 2-0 about halfway through the game.

It's single-elimination, so they must win to continue their season.

UConn's season is over, as the lose to UMass Lowell 2-1.

It'll be interesting to see what Sergeev does now.

Harvard wins 6-1 again. Coronato with 0pts and a +2.

Harvard will play Cornell in the ECAC Semi-Finals on March 17th.

ASU played their final game of the season on Saturday, winning 2-1 in OT. Demetrios Koumontzis had an assist on the GWG in his final college game.

I don't anticipate him being signed by the Flames.

Question- does Coronato play with Farrell and Laferriere? Seems like those two are doing much better stats wise but would be strange if he was playing with them and had lower numbers.

Based on stat watching, it looks like Nodler's development may have been stunted by rushing to the NCAA too soon and then being force-fed minutes on a bad UMichigan team.

His 8 points in 2019-20 as an 18 year old was sixth amongst forwards in team scoring.

His 11 points in 2020-21 as a 19 year old was the third-highest in overall team scoring.

Even on UMass, he's still one of the youngest forwards at 21 years old. There are 11 forwards on that team that are older than him.

Between Nodler, Koumontzis, Kuznetsov, Boltmann, and Pettersen, all showing signs of having stunted development by jumping to NCAA as soon as they turn 18 years old, the Flames should be rethinking their NCAA development approach

That's too bad about Nodler. I believe a big part of his game was being a defensively responsible player first, but you still need to be able to product more to make the bigs.
