That's always been the flaw in PHWA holding the votes for the awards. Voters in the east really only see players in the west a couple of times a season so that's not a lot of time to leave a mark and then there's the blatant homers as we have seen in Edmonton and Montreal that have skewed results over the years. The NHL should annually be looking at the polls for anomalies and stuff like like this where certain writers vote for players on the team they cover on a regular basis that don't align with rest of the voters and track them as there has to be a point where these guys get their voting privileges revoked.

If the NHL cared about the West in any manner at all, they'd find a way to even out the travel. They don't and they won't.

One of my favourite Burke stories, calling up the league and offering to just forfeit a game because the travel to get to it was just stupid

It would improve the smell in some parts of Greaserville.

Not really an east west thing in this situation. No one else other than paid fanboys voted for Pissy, including western writers not eating at oiler media brunches. Pissy is one of the dirtiest and least respectful players btw. Slewfeet and sticks into the junk tell me that he doesn’t respect opponents.
It’s funny that voting transparency is supposed to help as EE says; in the case of Edmonton, there’s no doubt that these two writers use it as a badge of honour. “See? I voted for Pissy. Now let me back into the building.”

There should be a rule that you can't vote top 3 for the players on the team you cover. Would help eliminate the homerism.
But of course then the Edmonton clowns wouldn't know who to cast their ballots for every spring.
They don't watch any other team.

Before this thread falls off the first page:
Calgary has 19 buildings that are 500 feet or taller. Edmonton? 2.

Each of the jokes will have to be personally vetted by Lowe first to make sure they don't hurt his feelings.

Lowe would assume that every one holds him in high esteem.
I could really see it paralleling the roast of Michael Scott
But I'd pay to watch Burke deliver the equivalent of Pam's tiny penis roast and the chaos that would ensue.
