Has Darling projected as the starter. Nothing confirmed yet though.

Bennett can't finish and Ferland is all finish.
I like it. If Bennett gets going this team is scary

Would it make people worry less if we'd just call 3M line the first line?
Jagr as the 2nd line RW doesn't sound that bad.

I think it's weird that Jagr playing with Monahan and Gaudreau tonight is a big deal. He played with Monahan and Gaudreau most of last game too and assisted on Johnny's goal.

Yeah, Frolik is actually not that far off the typical 1st line winger in terms of offensive numbers at 5v5, it's just that he barely gets PP time. His possession numbers are of course excellent even for a top line player. So to me, it's more like we lack a good long-term 2nd line RW solution unless Ferland can really step up. Jagr should suffice for now.

No assets - move Tkachuk to 1st line RW, Bennett to Tkachuk's spot and Janko to Bennett's spot.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
Bennett - Backlund - Frolik
Versteeg/Ferland - Janko - Jagr
Versteeg/Ferland - Stajan - whoever
So easy and so worth a shot, but Gulutzan and staff just refuse to do it.

I still think that if Bennett gets going and one day you could have a Tkachuk-Bennett-Ferland line, how nasty would that be?

Love the Johnny "Canadian Points" Gaudreau, along with Gaudreau and Monahan being sent to the legend.

I like that Gaudreau and Monahan joined Jagr's line, not the other way around.

What does Canadian points mean? They're 20% less valuable than american points?

This must be standard practice in Edmonton. Draisaitl isn't very good at it

Jagr is not a long term solution. If manages to have a successful contributory season on that top line, that's awesome. But that's a linear thought IMO.
Reality is that Johnny's pace is likely unsustainable and then what? Jagr is going to drive the play? Unlikely. He's a nice add and stop-gap but organizationally, long term, we need to find someone who is NHL ready and able to take on the role for top line RW but be able to play at both ends.
I'm not saying Jagr isn't good enough, for now. I'm saying he's good enough for now, but he is not a long term solution.
With everyone having Jagr fever right now, I am concerned about the post Jagr era. I hope the Flames can find someone to come in and learn this season and be able to step in next year as a top flight RW.
|
dude...embrace the mullet king. we can worry about next year...well, next year!

Short term solution is good. This team is going for it right now.

Yeah most likely Johnny isn't going to put up 124 points this season. We'll still be fine with a 30% drop in production.

The team has been winning and we have trouble fitting our best forward prospect in the lineup. Breathe, relax, live in the moment
