Hopefully it will fill that quirky sci-fi content now that The Orville will be wrapping up after season 3.

The first episode of Lower Decks is a lot of fun. If you're fan of Star Trek you'll enjoy it.

Preview of the whole season at the end gives a glimpse of some more good stuff coming up. Lots of throwback TNG stuff.

I thought it was fun, and I like the TNG era timeline. It was what I would imagine a Robot Chicken version of what life would be like for the non-bridge crew of the Enterprise.

Robot chicken did a great job of it with the night crew.

Overall well worth the fun. I did like the opener theme song part.

Laughed at the concept of second contact.

Lower Decks was....considerably disappointing.

I'm not sure what I expected but I genuinely didnt like it.

But its a brand new show with a new concept and ideas, it might take some time to get into its groove.

I think a real issue is that...for a cartoon most likely aimed at adults, it was very over-the-top stupid.

I hate to keep banging on this drum, but The Orville really found the right niche and tone. We want to hear about the stories of 'The Rest of the Crew' but that wasnt really it.

That was like Star Trek mixed with Rick and Morty and those two things really dont mix.

Lower decks was a fun watch. I would give it a 8/10.

Watched the first “Lower Decks” episode last night. Tons of fun! I really enjoyed all the TNG references. The intro also made me LOL. Can’t wait for 23 consecutive weeks of new Trek. Despite the varying quality of the current series, I’d say it’s a pretty fun time to be a Star Trek fan.

While I really liked the first one, the second one felt stale, maybe its because the two main characters are really flat to me, and the babbling of Mariner is too much.

I did kind of enjoy the part of the one character wanting to change jobs without the education or training, they just changed his uniform color.

The first episode was smart because they turned things on its ear. The egotistical bridge crew, no luxury apartments for the lower deck guys, the abuse of the holodeck to an uncomfortable level by the lower deck people. But then in this episode it was like "Meh we don't need to explore that anymore".

Its an an eager show with lots of energy, but it doesn't seem to expand its horizons.

It’s entertaining, but shallow.

That episode of Lower Decks required effort to finish.

Yeah, episode 2 was ok at best. I’m still finding it fun for the most part. I may be an easy audience for this show. So far, Rutherford is by far my favourite character. I loved seeing him change sections and the over-the-top reactions of the senior officers when he requested a transfer.

Episode 3 seems like its on the right track. We're getting there. Much, much better.

I'm just going through a DS9 rewatch and lamenting the lost potential of a show centered on Garak.

To me Garak, Dukat and Martok we're probably some of the best developed non main cast characters in TV.

Garak - was amazingly deep, and he played it well. There were a ton of layers to him, especially when they dove into his relationship with his father. I read an interview that he hated playing the mirror universe Garak who was a brutal thug.

Dukat - He was a really conflicted character, you wanted to hate him, but at times, you felt this incredible sympathy for him. He was pretty delusional about who he was. He saw himself as a hero who should have gotten credit for helping Bajor during the occupation. I never thought that Garak was Garak anymore after he was used by the Pah'Wraiths.

Martok - just awesome as a character. I loved the Worf wedding episode when he talked about his wife. I thought there was a bit of bad writing for him in the last episode that was out of character when he was drinking blood wine on cardassia and it made him look like a flat out war criminal.

Garak is a top 5 Star Trek character, main cast or otherwise.

You don't think Allied troops enjoyed some beverages when they took Berlin in '45?

Martok even said in that scene: "Before you waste too many tears, remember these are Cardassians lying dead at your feet. Bajorans would call this poetic justice." Was he wrong?
