GAME 14: STAMPEDERS vs TigerCats
Game Time: Friday, October 2nd @ 5:30pm MDT
Tim Hortons Field
TV: TSN, ESPN3
I am very surprised that Calgary Stampeders will only play their first game at Tim Hortons Field. Injury bugs hit both teams as this time with MLB Juwan Simpson, DB Joe Burnett, ST/DB Adam Berger might be done for the regular season. Hamilton QB Zach Collaros is only gone for the regular season or even after the playoffs.
OFFENSE:
Offense was not perfect last week but they were good enough to win. Just when QB Bo Levi Mitchell(27 for 35 for 333 yards, 1 TD and 1 Rushing TD) were having problem throwing the ball to WR Eric Rogers earlier in the game, SB Marquay McDaniel came to the rescue and became BLM's main target. McDaniel ended up catching 9 passes for 159 yards. Quay was one of the reason the Stamps' offense started clicking against the Bombers. RB Jon Cornish in his 2nd game after coming back from injury were used more last week and ended up rushing 16 times for 94 yards. He actually rushed for 104 yards but his last 2 rushes were both minus yardages.
DEFENSE:
Defense' heart and soul MLB Juwan Simpson left the game in the first half due to upper body injury and prevented him from coming back in the game. Defense also lost the services of ST/DB Adam Berger and DB Joe Burnett due to injury. Burnett got injured after returning the punt in the 3rd quarter. Simpson, Burnett and possibly Berger are gone for the duration of regular season. Simpson and Berger might be back in the playoffs though. After Simpson left the game, Deron Mayo took his spot and ended up with 6 tackles, 1 special team tackle and 2 quarterback sacks. DB Brandon Smith after missing the game a week before had a good game with 7 tackles and 1 knockdown.
SPECIAL TEAM:
ST return is hurting right now. First they lost Tim Brown a few games ago. Nathan Slaughter who replaced Brown as a returner did not have a good game and was promptly released. Stamps then put him on the injured list. Last game Burnett got injured in the 3rd quarter and the guy who replaced him Lamar Durant also went down with the minor injury and won't play tomorrow night. Skye Dawson who they acquired from Edmonton Eskimos on a trade will be the new returner for the Stamps against Hamilton. ST Coverage team have a different challenge though. They will have to try to stop the explosive returner Brandon Banks.
INS and OUTS:
In: #17 Ret/SB Skye Dawson, #31 DB Brandon McDonald, #37 LB Maleki Harris, #40 DB Dexter Janke, #64 OL Derek Dennis and #81 R Jabari Arthur.
Out: #1 R Lamar Durant, #12 MLB Juwan Simpson, #21 DB Adam Berger, #24 DB Joe Burnett, #67 OL Garry Williams, #88 R Kamar Jorden.
************************************************** **********
Even though Zach Collaros is out for the season, Hamilton still have one of the most dangerous receiving corps in the CFL with SB Tolliver, SB Tasker, WR Sinkfield Jr.
A win by Stampeders against Hamilton will secure them at least a playoff spot.
GO STAMPS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cornish and the O-line had best be ready. The wind is crazy here today, so passing, punting, and kicking are going to be a gongshow.

Banks punt return TD. Stamps are the only team without a TD on an opening drive this season.

Calgary instantly has one of the best sets of road jerseys when they wear the red helmet instead of the black one

that was a BS weak offensive PI. I guess putting your hand on a defender's back is now an offensive PI, eh? I can accept it if West pushed the guy.

Nothing like pimping a FG which likely barely goes 40 if not for the wind.
