This is great news for many reasons.
Getting him valuable reps....competing against Mackey ....well see where this leads but if he works as hard as #58 he'll bust back onto the scene and never look back.
This kid is awesome and I hope they allow all the time required to get him back to the level he was at his first year when we all saw the same thing....Valimaki is awesome.
Just get this kid his MOJO back.

Also nice that we aren’t sending him down to a #### team. They’ll be playing great on top of getting reps in. Win win.

In another move, Yan Kuznetsov has been loaned to the St. John's Seadogs of the QMJHL, where he will play the rest of the season with Poirier and Francis. This will probably be good for his development and confidence.

If him and Poirier can be a pair and just rub off all over each other, that would be great.
Kuznetsov with Poirier's offensive instincts could be an unbelievable player in the NHL. Poirier playing Defense like Kuznetsov would also be successful.

Aren’t they both lefties? Does Poirier play the right side?
Also obligatory phrasing meme!

Has there been any interviews with Valimaki since the move to Stockton? Looked on the FAN960 site and didn't see anything. Would be interested to hear from him.

More likely that they were simply waiting for a ruling from the NHL.
As explained somewhere, this situation was unique, and there was uncertainty as to whether one definition of 'not being a player all year' or another would apply.
There was no defined definition for this particular case.

Surprised but necessary. This is more character building than anything. I hope Valimaki comes back up to the big club and show us why he belongs in the lineup like Kylington has.

Before the game, a little read on Valimaki.
Could he be the next Oliver Kylington story for the Flames?

Is there a pay decrease for Valimaki or is this similar to Evander Kane where he will actually make more due to not paying escrow?

I believe Valimaki will get back to form and that he and OK will be the foundation of a fantastic future top 4.

Valimaki looks like the annoying dude from the British version of The Office.

He seems pretty upbeat and happy to be playing in some games again, which is fair enough, practising endlessly can be tough. I'm sure this was the right move for him and the org.

Pure speculation on my part but I think he was still recovering from his injury, not enough to place him on some sort of injured list, but enough that it was affecting his play. They kept him up here to train under Sutter's standards. Now he's doing better and needs to get some playing time to improve his conditioning.
That or nobody knew he could be sent down without waivers.

Im pretty high on Valimaki. I think playing, and playing a lot will help his game and confidence grow by leaps and bounds. I just hope he embraces it, and from the sounds of that presser, he has.

I honestly have zero worries about Valimaki. Kid has played high level hockey at ever single level he has been at.
The Flames, for all the angst on here, have done a pretty phenomenal job of developing their prospects in the last 5-6 years.
