The Sabres have a 2-0 lead midway through the first period.

Pettersson out of the game after a needless dirty play by Koktaniemi. Pettersson's leg bent backwards after being tackled to the ice far away from the puck after beating Koktaniemi in a board battle.

Hope he's OK but I don't think the knee is supposed to bend that much.

Went off on his own power, walking, but yeah, probably not good.

I'm hoping for a minor sprain, but knowing Canuck Luck he has Bure knees.

Hopefully precautionary. It would be a real shame to see a lengthy injury.

If he is out for any significant time, the Canucks playoffs chances are dead.

Owch!

Yeah, knee ligaments can be torn and you can often weight bear fine, at least for the first few hours. I would guess that he will be out for a while, too bad. Fun guy to watch

That has to hurt for Patterson. Speedy recovery.

The Blackhawks and Islanders are tied 2-2 late in the third period.

The Blues are leading 3-2 early in the third period. That would be an upset.

Burke was saying earlier this season his one concern with Pettersson was getting injured.

That's 2 injuries this year, not good.

Brings Heiskanen back into the Calder talk.

The Kings are on an extended two man disadvantage. The Lightning are playing tic tac toe passing and it is 2-0 now.

2 injuries that were from completely avoidable plays. This play wasn't dirty, it was just unnecessary. Him getting hurt on these plays has nothing to do with his size.

Not sure I agree, what does he weigh, 150?

If he's bigger/stronger not sure those injuries happen.

Hell of a player though.

Yeah it wasn't dirty, it was just.....awkward. Pettersson looks like he'll be ok thankfully. Probably just miss a game or two.
