Problem with JDR is that it's still his defense at the end of the day. KNJ should have never been hired as a DC as he was in way over his head the moment he was hired but he was running JDR's bend not break defense which is woefully outdated in a league where offenses run higher percentage plays. Pagano is a much better DC but he's a 3-4 guy and I don't think this team has the personnel to run a 3-4 base defense so he's still going to operate a variation of JDR's defense. I would expect more stunts and blitzes but I don't know how much change can be made this late into the season.
JDR will be back 100% because he just got extended at the beginning of the season and Mark Davis can't afford to pay him not to coach. This is unfortunate because JDR is not an X & O's guy and more the cheerleader type that needs really good coordinators to which KNJ and Downing are/were not.

ummm, the morning game actually looks to be very good between the top NFC north teams. Also, the thanksgiving games have pretty much always involved Detroit and Dallas, so their potential for being good teams back when the schedule was made was irrelevant anyway. And how was the NFL supposed to know how any of these teams would be doing at this point? With the exception of the Chargers, all high profile teams. I am guessing they do their best to rotate teams around, with the exception of Lions and Cowboys.
The one week where the NFL is able to guarantee some gems is week 17 - and it is a pretty simple formula- all division games where it is inevitable that some will be for the division crown.

Ya it is too bad the NFL doesn't have a crystal ball and know what the records are going to be in advance.

Huge playoff implications in 2 of the 3 and even maybe all 3 if Washington can win out.
Strange comment.
As for the early game...even when Detroit is "good", they are still Detroit. Doing Lionsey things already.

Yes, the NFL should give the NBA a call and find out how they do it.

Vikings are just a well coached team. Not a surprise that Zimmers D is solid, but they are good offensively too. Incredible how solid they are even with Keenum.

I picked the Cowboys to win so this is funny to me but good lord how many times can the Chargers get into the redzone and come away with no points.
It really should be 21-0 right now.

Applying the meaning of valuable literally, Aaron Rodgers and Zeke should finish 1-2 in MVP voting this year. Packers and Boys are dog#### without them.

Boy we heard a lot of talk about how good Prescott was over the last year but without Elliott he doesn't even look like he should be starting in the NFL. I've never seen a QB's play drop off this much after losing a starting RB.

Yeah its apparent Dak isnt quite the second coming of Roger Staubach just yet but he didnt lose just Elliot, they today got back their all-pro left tackle only to lose their all-pro right tackle. That is a such a big deal for QB's(particularly younger ones) as it messes with timing and more importantly with their minds.
That being said, they were getting all kinds of action as SB winners before the season, so the sportsbooks are rejoicing.

Yeah but he has 0 TD passes and 5 INTs in the three games Elliott has missed. Even if the OL is banged up it's not like he's running for his life on every play. He's simply having to face defenses that aren't respecting the running game without Elliott. I think if you look at the stats on first down he's done a lot of damage on play action with Elliott in the lineup because teams are forced to stack the box and without Elliott he's facing the same defenses that QB's like Aaron Rogers face on a regular basis and he's not fairing well at all. He's still young but at the end of the day your starting QB needs to be able to win games on his arm in the NFL.

Wentz has been without Peters for a month and doesn't look nearly as lost as Dak does. Not sure what is going on with Dak but his mechanics look terrible as of late.

Wentz is the outlier IMO. Dude looks like he has been commanding a huddle at this level for 10 years. Impressive beyond words.
Last guy I saw do this when given the reins, was Aaron and even then he had been watching Favre for 3 years.
As for Dak and his mechanics I agree but i believe his form is so wonky because his mind is racing due to the loss of Elliot and his o linemen. They were the best in the business last year in certain areas, without them they are nothing but an average NFL team.

Doesn't help that Dez looks finished as a top receiver, Witten is on his last legs and their other receiving options are middling at best. And oh yeah Garrett is a crappy coach who is one of the worst in game adjusters ever. But he's the puppet Jerry craves, so it's gonna take a total implosion for him to get fired. Cowboy fans should probably be rooting for Goodell to find a way to remove Jerry as owner, likely their best chance to win a Super Bowl again.
